"bunny X: Love Spy"

Bunny X is a synthpop band based out of New York, New York. The band is comprised of Abigail Ferguson and Mary Hanley. Influences range from the mid 1980’s, Madonna and Depeche Mode. Love Spy is the band’s premiere EP.

“Former Life” is the first song on the EP and it’s full of synthesized keyboards, percussion, light guitar riffs and female vocals that are at once edgy and smooth. The vocals really take center stage and spiral into a dance rhythm that would be at home in any club across the country. If you let it, this song will lead you right into the pulsing crowd.

“Thin Air” is more brooding at the onset with a light ambient synth that blends into percussion and vocals that draw you in with their seductive strength. This piece is compelling with lyrics that take you into a relationship at a turning point. By far, this is my favorite piece on the album. The depth of the vocals takes you into the heart of a maelstrom and only time will tell how the pieces fall.

“Love Spy” is the title track to the EP. The lead in is very synth pop and makes me think of darkened clubs and things that go on behind closed doors. Masked balls with couples caught in an intimate embrace flit by like shadows. Erotic tension climbs as the pulsing beat lends itself to the seduction of the soul.

Bunny X is a talent to watch for. The seductive vocals and multi-instrumentation blend well and create a canvas of undulating passion and give me an urge to hit the dance floor. You know a piece of music has caught your attention when you start to hum it when you are not really aware and that is exactly what happened with this EP. If you enjoy 80’s style music or Madonna give these ladies a try. The vocals are hot and the sound infectious.

"Bunny X New EP, LOVESPY, Is Electrifying"

Bunny X new EP, Lovespy, [is] a great teaser and makes a fantastic listen, especially if you're a fan of Madonna's early works and a connoisseur of modern disco. The exciting collection includes the singles "Don't Wanna Stop" and "3 Days," produced by Jesse Glick and Abigail Ferguson featuring Mary Hanley on vocals. The EP is faithful to synth-pop's avant-garde roots, incorporating sophisticated techno computerized drum patterns. There is a degree of intricacy in the presentation and imagination in the music that takes it beyond an average synth-pop record.

Mary Hanley's vocals show much of her personality and is not diluted by the intensity or washed away by the rave-like music. In fact there is a perfect synchronization between sound and singer which is outright mellow and soothing at one point in "Thin Air," then becomes more suggestive and electrifying in the Bunny X single, "3 Days." The EP seduces you by recreating and modernizing the popular genre of disco/dance music. Lovespy creates a mood of edginess and leaves you wondering what's next and yearning for more. - Bandblurb

Bio

bunny X is a synth-pop band based in New York City. Influences range from early 80's Madonna to Depeche Mode.

bunny X was first conceived on a cold winter day in December 2008. After singing and performing with a number of bands in NYC, founding member Abigail Ferguson, who grew up on a steady diet of Madonna and Cyndi Lauper, decided it was time to start writing some original material. Ferguson and bunny X co-conspirator, Mary Hanley, produced a large body of work between 2008 - 2012 and the 'Lovespy' EP, released in Summer 2012, represents the best of this material. All songs on the Lovespy EP were written and performed by bunny X and produced by Jesse Glick (Guardian Ghost).

bunny X has also collaborated with Conrad Kaneshiro (Male Room and Flashback Records) and released a 12" single for "If You Say Yes" in March 2013 on the Hi-NRG label Disco Success.
