The History of Burma Shave
In January 2001 three school friends, Wayne Moran (Vocals/Guitar 2001 - Current), Thomas Melville (Bass 2001 - Current), Thomas Egan (Drums 2001 - 2005), formed a band called Idle Hands. As with many school bands they covered songs by artists they felt influenced by, such as Green Day, Muse, Chilli Peppers et al.

Encouraged by the favourable reactions the band began to flex their muscles and began writing original material. Wayne decided to focus more on guitar and auditions were held for a new singer. Eventually Brian Diamond (2001-2004) was chosen to take the mic.

After cutting their teeth at every house party, youth cafe, disco hall and pub they could find, in 2002 Idle Hands headed to Sunstreet studios to record their first LP 'Scarred'. The CD comprised of 10 tracks, including fan favourites 'Guilt Within', 'Flame of Sin' and 'Behind My Back'.

As each group member found their place in the group they collectively began to mould a more rock orientated sound. After a year of promoting 'Scarred' and playing gigs, in order to add depth and crunch to the band, a second guitarist was sought. In April 2003 Simon Fox (2003-Current) joined the group and immediately clicked with the Idle Hands sound.

As the members began to write more experienced lyrics and the bands sound became tighter Idle Hands headed back to the studio. In early 2004 the band recorded a second CD titled 'Israfel'. The 4 track CD proved very popular with established fans and new comers at gigs around the country. Standout tracks include 'Trust In Tears' and 'Satan’s Son'.

'Israfel' proved to be a turning point for the band. In 2004 each band member found themselves having to decide whether to commit to the music or follow a different path. For personal reasons Thomas Egan (Drums 2001 - 2005) and Brian Diamond (Vocals 2001 - 2004 ) came to an amicable agreement and departed the band. Rather than abandon what had taken 3 years to build the remaining members searched for a new singer. Auditions finally found a worthy singer in Elaine McDonagh (Vocals 2004 - Current) and soon after a dynamo beatman in James Flaherty (Drums 2005 - Current). With two new members a completely rearranged sound had formed. To coincide with the different line-up an new moniker was chosen. Thought Process was born. The band continued to find a new rhythm and played gigs constantly to gather new fans and spread their sound.

After a year and a half locked in their practise space and with the addition of a second drummer Niall King (Drums 2007 - Current) shaping a new sound finally the group were ready to explode once again. With a line-up that fits perfectly and a sound each member feels is the one they were drawn together to play it was time to bring something new to the world. Burma Shave was born.

2007 is shaping up to be the year of Burma Shave. The band have a new cohesive rock-metal sound and have hit the road running with successful wins in competitions, well received gigs and new demos that are quickly garnering respect amongst fans and critics.

The only way is up, the only sound is Burma Shave!
