Burning City

Burning City rose from the diverse and active music scene in Toronto Canada. Burning City is comprised of two brothers, Andrew (The Scourge, vocals) and Eric (bass, vocals) MacDonald, Dennis Borges (guitars, vocals) and Matt Sullivan (Drums).

From an early age, the brothers Mac frequented live concerts in the hot bed of Canada’s music scene, Toronto. Drawing from a variety of influences, such as Parliament Funkadelic, Maceo Parker, The Rolling Stones, Prince, Cypress Hill, Jurrasic 5, and the Beastie Boys, they set out to bring their own talents to the stage and make a party hop! The Scourge took up the microphone, and with his brother on the guitar, the funk ran thick and stanky.

Enter the Menace to society himself, Dennis. Fusing his influences from hard rock, Heavy Metal (Led Zeppelin, Tool, AC/DC, etc…) and raw Hip Hop (Company Flow, Hieroglyphics, etc) Dennis was kicking out underground Hip Hop on his Techniques 1200s. Meeting with the Scourge at the University of Toronto he revealed his suppressed abilities on the six string. The Scourge convinced him to step out from behind the Turntables, and unleash the fury of a fully operational Les Paul.

Fighting though a variety of line up changes, (including the loss of a bass player to a nervous breakdown, a backup rapper to a cult, and several drummers) the core members pressed on. Eric Mac put down his beloved Stratocaster to renew his torrid love affair with the bass. This cemented the core triple threat line up of Burning City.

The band continues to fight the status quo, and burn down musical barriers. Mind expansion, and heavy rhythms drive Burning City to create their own musical space, to pump a live show that makes the booty move, and enlightens the mood.
