Bio

Sydney, Australia based Burnt At The Stake formed in 2010; and in the time since have seen their fan base grow ever so increasingly, making inroads into the local and national Metal & Hardcore music scene.

Burnt At The Stake, otherwise known as ‘BATS’, has also established themselves as a must-see live act through an intense on-stage reputation which has been described as ‘destructive’ & ‘powerful’ through their delivery in performances. From the melodic and soulful outro of their first EP single “Currahee”, to the fierce but catchy guitar riffing of “Disintegrate”, their second EP single, whilst also having a knack for non-stop extensive writing, the word on Burnt At The Stake is spreading rapidly.
Burnt At The Stake have built a loyal following in Australia through touring off the back of their debut release, “Illustrations Of An Imposter”, whilst also using online Social Networking sites such as; Myspace, Facebook, PureVolume, Twitter & YouTube to spread the word and gain both national and international recognition.
The much anticipated debut, “Illustrations Of An Imposter” was released independently by the band on 5th April, 2010, which also marked the first date of “The Imposter Tour” which was stretched over a course of 11 dates, which had the band visit many suburban and city areas of both New South Wales & Queensland, having toured Victoria prior to the release. The EP is available at all of their shows, and their online ordering store, BigCartel, being available for worldwide shipping. A bonus online track, “Refraction”, was also released on the EP and is available on; iTunes Store, and LimeWire Store.
The band was featured on “The Muso’s Show” on radio station 99.9 SWR FM in May. During the 2 hour run time of the live show, the band was informally interviewed; showcased tracks off their EP, and the members had guest programmed the music for the session.
Joey Andres, Kosta Hatziandreou, Jonny Hatziandreou and Alex Vitale met (besides the two being brothers), during a jam session in high school, all members were known to each other prior to the jam, but this had solidified their interests in starting a band. Though lineup and member changes have occurred since the band’s original formation, the band has been strong to pursue their goals. After 10 months of solid writing, the band had their first recording experience together in the studio and not long after, played their first show. Due to prior musical outfits, BATS automatically received a positive reception from the fans of their former bands and gained an increasing number ever since their first demo track, “Refraction” was released online. Their debut release features Kosta’s renowned frenetic guitar riffs and solos, but also shows the more soulful side with melodic and ear pleasing harmonies.
Kosta and Jonny have been playing alongside since infant age, and have been influenced by the iconic sounds of AC/DC, Metallica, and MegaDeth, moving on to the more modern metal sounds that is Behemoth and The Black Dahlia Murder. Joey has been inspired by a number of punk and hardcore influenced metal bands, and has offered his vocal style of demonic gurgling growls, and screeching screams to the table. Alex’s drums have been influenced by unique but outstanding bands such as; Meshuggah, Recoil, Whitechapel, and Tool.
With a lot of influences to offer to the table, BATS, have found a sound to settle on with their new single, “Regicide”, released in late August, 2010, which feature much more intricate guitars, and showcase progressive drumming techniques not present in their EP. With their current local and national success in their time running, Burnt At The Stake are definitely a band to keep an eye on.
