Biography

Spawned from the likes of BODYJAR, BLOOD DUSTER and 180 DISCHORD, BURN THE CITY have descended upon Australia like a plague, with a fist full of melodic rock to ram right down your throats.

Having gone their separate ways after their metal-core band 180 DISCHORD disbanded in the 90s, high school mates Tom Read and Matt Collins have been blazing their own trails of fire with Read playing guitar for Melbourne stalwarts BODYJAR and Collins providing metal licks for the consistently brutal BLOOD DUSTER. BURN THE CITY sees the two join forces yet again, along with hot new drummer Harish Chabria and former GRANDVILLE bassist Dan Hennessy to create their own unique blend of rock, punk and metal with a consistent melodic edge, reminiscent of Samiam, the Foo Fighters, and Aussie pub rock legends Midnight Oil!

Not being ones to do things by halves, the songwriting duo of Read and Collins hit the studio mid 2006 insistent upon bashing out a full-length album for their debut release. The result; 10 tracks of brutally honest, melodic rock, laden with vocal harmonies and plenty of guitar wankery to keep everyone happy.

BURN THE CITY’s self-titled debut album was released on the DSTAR Records label (Tiltmeter, Responder) 9th September 2006, with Triple J’s Short.Fast.Loud picking up the lead single ‘Reflex Action’ in the first week, shortly followed by spins on Triple J’s Home and Hosed.

Being no stranger to touring, Read has taken his band on the road consistently since the album’s release, completing two national tours in the mere space of four months at the end of 2006 (Sep/Oct - Rock N’ Roll Inferno Tour – with Mere Theory, and the Nov/Dec - Assault Your Senses Tour – with label mates Tiltmeter, presented by BLUNT Magazine, Fist2Face, and Metric Clothing). Burn The City are currently on the road playing the east coast industry launches for their clothing sponsor Metric Clothing.

Bringing together experience, youthfulness and pure talent, BURN THE CITY is all about the SONGS. Backed by a committed management team, BURN THE CITY has the support to concentrate on what matters – GOOD QUALITY SONGS.

BURN THE CITY is here to stay.
