Bio

Business for Pleasure pushes the boundaries of hip hop, fusing elements of rock, funk, and electronica with mind-bending, tongue-twisting lyrics. Our fans describe our music as a cross-pollination of Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Roots, and Rage Against the Machine. BFP’s lineup consists of Jed Lewis on vocals, Tim Tsang on keys and the Moog, Rob Yoo on bass, Jesse Richman on drums, and Cory Kwon on guitar.

BFP started in 2007, and when we came onto the live music scene in the spring of 2009 it was with a bang. When we take the stage, no one knows what to expect at first – five guys walk up on stage, decked out in full suits, not looking like a typical hip hop band at all. But by the end of each performance, we always win the crowds over with our eclectic brand of music that leaves them chanting for more.

From our first show at All Asia Bar to playing live on the air on WFNX 101.7 to opening for the legendary Slick Rick, there is one thing that is guaranteed at every BFP performance – we know how to bring the crowds to a frenzy with their heads bopping and their arms raised in the air. The high level of energy and tightness of our live shows has brought us some tangible recognition. Arlene’s Grocery in NYC has offered us a monthly spot beginning in January of 2010 after playing just a handful of shows there, and they have said that “Business For Pleasure is seriously one of the best bands we’ve had play here.” Also, after being invited by Converse to play a few of their events, they have offered to sponsor a 3-week tour for us in March 2010 that will begin in Texas and take us through the southeast back up to northeast.

Another notable event in our history-to-date is the release of Business For Pleasure’s first EP album, “White Collar Rhymes, Volume 1.” The second volume of this series will be released in early 2010. Also, the Business For Pleasure website is in its final stages of development and will be launched by November 30, 2009.

BFP is grateful for all the support we’ve gotten from our friends, families, and fans from the very beginning and every show we play is for them. 2009 has been a whirlwind of a year, and we’re proud for all that we’ve accomplished so far and are excited about all that lies before us in 2010.
