BUTFUNK

BandRockFunk

BUTFUNK is a party, a mix of funk, rock, ska & their unique mojo. They have lots of eclectic originals and butfunktified covers. Great to keep heads bobbing and booties shakin'. High energy & state of mind. Influenced by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Doors & the Clash. Make it Butfunky!!!

Biography

BUTFUNK was formed in 2000 by five performers from different towns in rural Nova Scotia. The term "Butt fudge nowhere" in a BUCK 65 song inspired Darren to come up with the band name that so aptly described where they were from. All five musicians love to improv and jam.
Darren and Archie met at ST. FX, studying literature and Jazz respectively. Dawn had just left the Johnny Favorite swing Orchestra for which she won a Juno. Chris had studied piano at X and Nick answered an add for a funkilicious bassplayer. Chemistry occured, spurred on by the desire to make good music. Funk and rock were the common grounds they all played on so songs were born and took form. BFN gigged around the maritimes and finally found money and time to record an album in 2006. Looking for opportunities to expand as a band, following the musical master plan. YEAH!!!!
