"Stuff of legends"

Stuff of legends and they've only been together two years. These jangle-rockers are flying high on the hype and backing it up with a ripping little demo...

Legend has it that, following one of his frequent court hearings, Pete Doherty heard Butterfly Bang's recent Junk Sky single and was so besotted he proceeded to play it 10 times over.
Not that the London four-piece need to rely exclusively on celebrity endorsements to get noticed.
Not when they've already received radio airplay from the likes of Huw Stephens, Steve Lamacq and Claire Sturgess among others, as well as playing high-profile support slots with the likes of Towers Of London, Hard-Fi and The Pigeon Detectives.

They cite seminal Australian rock band The Triffids as a key influence, but more than a few journalists have already picked up on the similarity of lead vocalist Emmanuel's impassioned singing style to that of Dexy's Midnight Runner legend Kevin Rowland.

Now based in London (via Dorset), the band's first two self-produced demos, Catch/Explode and Summer Shadows on the Wall, both received airplay on BBC Radio 1 and XFM.
Their first official single meanwhile, On The Street, was released on Weekender Records last year, with Junk Sky following this March. Their London Calling track, You See Things I Never Will, is currently available only on Butterfly Bangs' MySpace page.

Described by Rough Trade as "an infectious burst of high energy pop rock 'n' roll shot through with the spirit of Dexy's and Arcade Fire..", you can get all the latest on their MySpace - BBC Radio London
