To be Black, Young, & Gorgeous is an attitude,
for BYG it’s a way of life. The North Long Beach native fell in love with music at an early age. Influenced by R&B greats such as, Marvin Gaye, The Isley Brothers, AL Green, and a host of soul singers, gave this young man a true sense of soul and feeling in music, and the love found for hip hop Giants such as Ice Cube, DJ Quik, The Ghetto Boys, Tupac< and his hometown lyrical hero Snoop Dogg, would prove to be a combination for something phenomenal later in his life.
"The sound that soothes the savage beast." Byg has the ability to lace tracks with soulful silky vocals, and melodic hooks, that fit perfectly between crafty metaphors and powerful story telling by the veteran wordsmith. A perfect marriage between soul and street that is undeniable, the unique sound of BYG is like that of no other, a true student of his craft with a deep desire to make music that speaks to the Mass Minority. An artist in the strongest meaning of the word, with one objective in mind “ Make the Music Touch The People”.
Black, Young, & Gorgeous, is more than just a moniker, but rather a lifestyle a belief, that true beauty and meaning must first come from within oneself, and that the hood is just as beautiful as the burbs. BYG brings this frame of mind through his music to his listeners and is poised to be BYG influence on today’s hip hop soul scene.
