Byron Major

Even in the urban suburbs of South Africa, there is no one like Byron Major. Originally from the coastal city of Cape Town, B'Major grew up singing with the Drakensberg Boys' Choir School. At the tender age of 9, Byron toured with the choir both locally, in South Africa and internationally in the United Kingdom. When the choir wasn't traveling, Byron Major was learning repertoire from Handel to P채rt. 

A young musician could hardly find better training but B'Major's love during high school laid with rugby, when was selected to play for the provincially Blue Bulls U/16 team. "My mom says she used to play me classical music of Andrea Bocelli while I was in her womb" and so as a vibrant teenager, Major began using his pocket money to book studio time in Pretoria; where those fruitful hours built-up the foundations of his contemporary aesthetic. Eventually, Byron Major left the rainbow shores of South Africa, to study a 4-year BA degree in Songwriting at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, USA.

After graduating, B'Major returned to his homeland to complete a 6-month internship at Sony Music Entertainment Africa. It was during a second internship at Byron's former school, the Drakensberg Boys' Choir School that Major reconnected with his musical roots and embarked on recording tracks for his self-titled debut album. The visceral quality of Byron Major's "Poptronic" is powerful, with His worldly appeal and heavenly execution being at the forefront of every song he composes.
