"Artists You Need 2 Know w/ Conflict - Byron Bank"

I was throwing a weekly hiphop show!!! in Pasadena, at The Pub!! The 2 final contestants were KO and BYRON BANK!! My boy Gerry introduced me to Byron when he came to get in the show….It helps that Gerry has been around since the beginning of my “career”, and has a really good ear to what hip hop ppl like.. I saw him (Byron) on the Internet, and he somehow looked taller. His talent, stage presence, and crowd reaction spoke volumes on this GIANT M.C. in a smaller frame!! IF IT AIN’T LOCAL!! IT AIN’T LIVE! AND IF YOU DON’T KNOW!! YOU NEED TO KNOW “BYRON BANK!!!

CoNfLiCt

So I haven’t chopped it up with you since the ” So You Think You Can Rap” Battles in Pasadena, a few years back.. I see you haven’t even tried to simmer down.. Tell Optimo fans what you’ve got in the works right now..

BYRON BANK

Next thing is the show at Warehouse Live with Slim Thing and Paul Wall for Springboard South..

BYRON BANK New mixtape out called “The Pre-Withdrawal” then a summer video for my song, “The Weekend”, and finish up my album “The Withdrawal”, doing features with other local artist as well!!

CoNfLiCt
You had a show with Devin The Dude, now Slim Thug & Paul Wall, I see Team Bank is still running strong. How’d this all start?

BYRON BANK
I started off in a rap group, then later we slowly stopped doing music but I continued. I just kept grinding and met wonderful ppl along the way, who helped me and give me insite to which is how I got this show!

Conflict
How old were you when you started?

BYRON BANK

16

Gon’ make me tell my age! lol

CoNfLiCt What happened to turn you towards Hip Hop? Influences from Artists? Friends?

Byron Bank

My love for the music. I grew up on a lot of Bun B, Jayz, UGK, Dr Dre, Scarface, Phat Pat, JayZ, Biggie, Ice Cube, Tupac, Nas…I was mostly influenced by how they used life as music but also how some used word play in their music which is what I do today and to me is what real hiphop is life, words, reality, and etc.

CoNfLiCt

I remember describing your music as East meets South w/ a little bit of West sprinkled in.. And it’s refreshing because there are a lot of copy cats out there..
Who would you say your main influence in this whole game is?

BYRON BANK

JayZ

CoNfLiCt

Why is that?

BYRON BANK

Lyrical word play, the business man that he is, his demeanor, and how he’s been in the game for a while and still to this day can drop and bringing it ever time.

CoNfLiCt
You seem to be underestimated a lot.. I did the same thing when I first brought you out, to Pasadena.. Why do you think that is? And how good does it feel to prove those who doubt you, wrong?

BYRON BANK

I think I get judged on how I look. Being that I’m short, kind of quiet, and have a baby face.. Although, at the end, I just get up there and believe that I can rock and enjoy doing it.. Which I believe is what makes ppl be like, “Wow!!”…. I try not to prove ppl wrong, I just try to be the best at what I do and get better each time I do it…

CoNfLiCt

Well, from an outside perspective, I was proven wrong.. Didn’t expect such a strong ass performance coming from, well, someone so short and quiet… Smh.. When you got on that stage, you were ten foot tall and bulletproof, and everyone in the building knew it..

BYRON BANK

Wow, I appreciate that bro..

Conflict

Where do you hope and/or strive to be in 5 years?

BYRON BANK

I hope to be doing only just music, acting,, giving back, and starting to help others with insight and guidance.. While chasing their own dreams.. (I want to be) signed to Roc Nation, is my goal!

Conflict

Have you sent in demos, letters, etc.? I know it’s not as easy to get noticed by a major label in the day and age of social networking..

BYRON BANK

I have…I did most of that when I visited New York but I need to go back it’s been a year already

It’s very hard, but I can settle for a successful independent empire. (As) long as I’m not slaving to make someone else successful, anymore.. Lol

Conflict

That is a way of thinking that most underground artists need to adapt to..

Is there any advice, admiration, or announcements you’d like to give out..

BYRON BANK

Just keep grinding and chase your dream, (because) can’t nobody stop you but You!!!

that’s too anybody that has a dream bc we all still dream

Conflict

Where can everyone find your music, videos, show dates?

BYRON BANK

"Born and bred from the streets of Houston, Texas, Byron Bank is here"

Born and bred from the streets of Houston, Texas, Byron Bank is here! Aspiring hip-hop artist and entrepreneur, Bank got his start through his love for music. Beginning as a hobby and gradually growing into his passion, Byron has no intentions on slowing his grind in this game. He says that his style is one that the music industry is missing and that he provides a fresh perspective that attracts fans who love conscious music. “I’m not afraid to step outside my comfort zone and do something different” says Bank. He hopes to leave his impression in the music industry in a variety of ways—producing, ghostwriting, and creating an independent record label to name a few. He understands the powerful impact entertainment has on society, and is determined to establish a legacy just as powerful through his work.

Bank has been grinding hard ever since he embarked on his journey as an entertainer. He has several mixtapes currently in rotation, including B.E.T. – Bank Entertainment Televised, Catch Me If You Can, and Why Did I Get Married Too (The Game). He also has two albums under his belt, An End of the Beginning, and Passion Has a Price. Currently he is working on his latest album entitled, The Withdrawal and is busy shooting videos for his singles “Scandalous Girl” and “The Weekend”. He takes his passion and his grind seriously and has vowed to his fans that he will release a new mixtape every year which they can download for free. Bank is invested in making sure he provides his fans with an all around experience with Byron Bank the artist. He is always searching for feedback on ways to improve on his appeal to his audience. “I like to be more interactive and one on one with my audience, keeping it personal and making them apart of the journey.”

Byron’s musical influences include Jay-Z, Kanye West, Scarface, UGK, Nas, Notorious B.I.G., and Lupe Fiasco. His lyrical style, concepts, and persona are likened to that of Drake, J. Cole, Jay-Z, and Lupe. He claims that his lyrical wordplay and style is his bread-and-butter. “I can switch styles and make a track my own, as if the track talks to me.” Bank uses his musical influences as well as his family, friends, and life experiences to create his unique style. “I have some amazing people in my life who keep me laughing and encourage me to keep going” says Bank.

With Byron’s talent and hustle, he is clearly on the path to success. Be sure to check out Bank’s new music coming soon!

"Byron Bank releases "Passion Has A Price""

Byron Bank was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He was the only man in the household, so he needed to set his sight on becoming something special. He had great ambitions to make a name for himself. Right from the beginning he showed promise at talent shows and joining the high school band. Byron played the trumpet and later moved to drums but didn’t stop there. He soon went to keyboard giving Byron the building blocks in order to accomplish what he set out to do. Then came producing and rapping. Byron knew that music was his destiny. Finally, he had an opportunity to show his skills as a producer and rapper when a hip hop group called Uppa Dek released their debut album ‘Da Nosebleed Section’. He was one of the members of the group and saw his own reflection. This gave him the drive and hunger to work harder in order to reach his goal.

Byron Bank is proud to announce the release of his newest CD “Passion Has A Price” with single “Like A Star” leading the way. The premise of this song is about treating your special person just like a star where nothing else matters and the world revolves around them alone. It’s about being that special someone – you feel it – it’s all around you – you are a star. This song is an anthem for Byron Bank, depicting his technical skills, writing skills, that hip hop feel, that swagger that is so soulful, you can’t help yourself but to take it personal. It is one of many common threads that run through his songs in this great CD. Another unique aspect of Byron’s music is the way he expresses himself with metaphors, specific patterns and the emotion that just come to life. “ ‘Passion Has A Price’ is a very personal album. It’s my life in different areas as I grow and live life and it will reflect throughout my musical career”, states Byron. Byron Jones is giving us his life in song.

Prior to this newest release Byron Bank released “An End of the Beginning” CD along with a multitude of mixtapes.

Byron Bank will open for Chris Brown at the Scream Tour in the Woodlands, Miami Car Show for the Super Bowl XLIV, Alternative Scream TV Performance. He also opened for the Devin the Dude and the Coughee Bros., Juneteeth Festival Performance in LaMarque, Texas and Missouri City, Texas. He has also worked with community based organizations such as the March of Dimes for the March of Babies, Houston’s YMCA for Healthy Kid’s Day and Good Cause 4 Good People (GC4GP) fundraising event in Austin for Austin Children’s Shelter & Safe Place. Bio

Byron Keith Jones (born July 15), better known by stage name Byron Bank, is an American Rapper. Bank born in the southeast Houston neighborhood, started rapping at the age of fifteen. Due in part to being the only man in the household, Bank witnessing his mother's struggle as a single parent; using his mother's pain as motivation. Bank learns to play the trumpet and drums in the high school band, however with the encouragement of his grandmother who purchased his first ever keyboard workstation Byron found his true love producing music. Byron knew music was his future and felt he had something special to share with the world.

The rapper/producer/songwriter/ honing his skills as a songwriter creating hooks for his beats, Bank stepped up his lyrical repertoire with full length and completed songs. Finally having the first opportunity to showcase his talent Byron join Hip Hop group Uppa Dek. As the "hottest thing on the street" at the time Bank’s began to see his own reflection and passion grew inside him to venture out on his on. Byron's uncompromising work ethic would not allow him to rest on his more than impressive laurels; there needed to be a 'visual' movement to showcase his innovative style and unique persona.

2010 continued to be phenomenal for the young MC. Having released his (free to the public) freshmen mixtape album Catch Me If You Can on January 22st via the internet, bucking the norm of waiting for a major label deal to kick off his career, the rapper has taken his fate in to his own hands and crafted an internet campaign that rivals many of the acts resting high on the Billboard charts. His Internet game is just as tight as his rap game.

Byron Bank has opened up for Mega Superstar Chris Brown on the Scream Tour (Woodland TX); Miami Car Show during Super Bowl XLVI weekend. He has also opened up for Devin the Dude and Coughee Brothers to name a few. As well as perform for over 20 major Houston’s Community Benefit events. The stage is now set for Byron to put his new Houston flavor on the map with the newest mixtape "The Withdrawal" is led by the cuts Scandalous Girl, The Weekend & Houston Love. These are record of my life said Byron. Bank’s is definitely rockin' to his own beat.
