Byron Richard

Byron is a SoCal native, born and raised in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles. He comes from a long line of musicians whose influences fostered his love for music at a very young age. One of which was his grandfather, a successful songwriter and musician in the 50’s. He sang with Tommy Dorsey and wrote the hit song “Meet You In Seattle” for the world’s fair, all while founding and performing in two popular groups of his own: Don, Dick, and Jimmy, and, Joy and the Boys. It was his grandfather who gave him his first guitar and from then on Byron began writing his own songs. Byron’s love for singing and writing songs eventually lead him to the audition rooms of the Los Angeles County High School for the Performing Arts (LACHSA). His audition was for voice and given by Pat Bass, the accomplished vocalist for the 5th Dimension. It was with her high recommendation that Byron be accepted to the school, thus beginning the laying of the foundation on which he would build his music and vocal theory skills.
After attending LACHSA, Byron went on to form groups of his own, playing and headlining such venues as, The Roxy, The Whiskey A Go-Go, The Viper Room, The Troubadour, and The House of Blues. He also found himself playing with many accomplished musicians along the way, from established bass player, studio cat, Dante Pascuzzo, to the more widely known rock drummer Matt Sorum. Byron also had the privilege to study voice with renowned vocal coach Ron Anderson in the years that followed. Byron has a wide spectrum of influences from ABBA to NWA and from Bad Religion to The Beatles, with an emphasis on solo artists like Jeff Buckley, Damien Rice, James Taylor, and Leonard Cohen; and it shows in his music. Byron is not afraid to stretch the boundary of his abilities or bare the weakness of his soul in order to write the truth and compose the unique. All while presenting his music in a way that is intriguing to his peers and enjoyable to music fans of all genres.
