Bio

Vancouver's Cadillac Jukebox started as family affair a few kilometers outside of Vancouver, British Columbia in the winter of 2003. On a whim, Frontman, Paul Arntsen started jamming with his son and guitarist, John Arntsen, and bass-player/roommate John-Paul Sim in a small studio at the edge of Vancouver’s eastside. The only problem was that they needed a drummer that could provide and accompany the energy that the music so desperately required. Enter Terry Wilson. Playing and recording music together for several years, this 4-piece band put together a collection of blues songs with the objective of playing them in front of a live audience and recording an album. With both becoming a reality in the summer of 2005, they now needed a name that would best explain what the four men needed to convey. Cadillac Jukebox was born.

Now that the 4 men had a few shows and their first album, “A Road Well Travelled” under their belt, Cadillac Jukebox wanted to take the next step by expanding their sound. One day, Paul was walking down Kits Beach in Vancouver when he came upon the sound that he wanted to add. Sitting there, minding his own business, was keyboardist, Dave Taylor. Within in a few practices, it was like he had always been there. Cadillac Jukebox was now a 5-piece band with a new sound that needed to be road-tested.

In trying to find a sound that would connect with a live audience, Cadillac Jukebox set out to write music that makes people get out of their seats and dance. “The idea is to have a good time”, the young Arntsen exerts, “we want the audience to feel as good as we do playing it”. By playing an upbeat style of blues, they feel that people will want to continue to come back over and over again. “It’s important that people tap their feet and bounce their heads by what we do and what we play,” Sim states, “It is time to give people music with Soul, Precision but still with a classic quality; something that has seemed to fade away with modern production and a cookie-cutter approach.” Their influences include but are not limited to: Eric Clapton; Albert King; Buddy Guy; ZZ Top; and the Beatles.
