Cairn McBain
Berlin, Berlin, Germany | Established. Jan 01, 2021
Bio
Cairn grew up playing the guitar, hooked from age
11 to the likes of Bob Dylan, Kurt Cobain and Davy Graham through his
Mother's hippie influence. After finishing his school education, he
has honed his songwriting and guitar playing craft through countless
concerts and travels all around Europe and beyond to form an amalgam
of Mississippi-Delta-Blues, Scottish-Folk Music Traditions and 60s
Guitar-Band style. He writes about his experiences in love, travel,
adventure and delivers these stories and snippets with refreshing
guitar playing, a gustful voice and a charismatic appearance. He has
played in a vast number of different places such as a waterpark in
Turkey, Blues bars in Copenhagen, on the beaches of Barcelona, pool
bars in France, at the tunnelbana stations of Stockholm, an
Australian night club in Beijing, the Dragonfly hostel in Dali (South
of China), at a 60s club in Riga, at numerous Festivals as well as
numerous gigs all around the three cities he likes to call home:
Hanover, Glasgow and Berlin. Here he performed at tradefairs, street
parades (Pankeparcours), churches, live-venues, countless dive-bars
and occasionally in the streets. He has taken inspiration and
connection from each place, and each trip seeps into his music and
songs.
He also runs a music night in Berlin featuring the creme de
la creme of the considerable local talent in Folk and Blues music, as
well as some outstanding poetry.
He is set to release his second
solo album at the end of this year which is being produced by the
internationally known guitar virtuoso Raoul Vignal, who also features
as co-musician on the record.
Recently he has also founded the
band "The Blue Bats" who are looking to record coming
autumn.
