heart and soul as well.

Bio

Kelly McDermott has performed as flutist throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe in various classical ensembles. She has appeared live on television and radio, including WNYC in New York City. Ms. McDermott has degrees in flute performance from Michigan State University and Temple Universtiy in Philadelphia and has studied at numerous festivals in the U.S. and Europe. After her musical training she worked as an orchestral and chamber musician on the east coast for twelve years.

Upon returning to her native Michigan she began performing with the Bijou Orchestra in Bay City, Michigan Opera Theatre in Detroit and the Flint Symphony Orchestra. Though she still enjoys classical flute performing her career has taken a slight twist, now her current passion is singing ancient celtic and folk music. In addition to singing with “Cairn to Cairn” this last year she sang with the “Road House Revival Band” live on Ann Arbor Radio and the Caribbean Band “Nite Flite”.

She now divides her time as a classical flutist , Suzuki flute teacher, her own private vocal study, arranger and performer with “Cairn to Cairn” and the mother of two children Emma and Spencer.

Terry Farmer is a singular and unique voice in the acoustic world. His music is a fusion of folk, classical guitar and rock & roll wrapped in a spiritual heart. On stage he captivates and transports his audiences as he delivers an irresistible combination of steel string and classical guitar, a rich commanding voice, and a poet’s vision.

Originally from the Detroit area, his music career has taken him to all four corners of the country as a player and band leader, including a two year tour as lead guitarist with the legendary “Jan & Dean”. Recent years have been spent in classical guitar study at the University of Denver and Cleveland Institute of Music. Following his classical studies, Mr. Farmer returned to his songwriting roots in Michigan and released two solo CDs on Terradactyl Records.

Mr. Farmer’s honors include the New Folk Finalist at the Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas, songwriting recognition at the Susquehanna Music and Arts Festival in Maryland, and showcase artist at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival in New York. He has appeared on the Main Stage at Blissfest in Michigan and the Flint Folk Festival among others. He has opened for such diverse artists as Lucy Kaplansky, Claudia Schmidt, Bill Staines, SONiA of Disappear Fear, Gaelic Storm, Over the Rhine and Leftover Salmon, The Replacements, Chuck Berry and many others.

Currently Mr. Farmer is the driving force for his own” Road House Revival Band” which is preparing for its third season on the live radio show “Radio free Bacon” in Ann Arbor. He also performs, composes, and arranges for the Celtic/Folk group “Cairn to Cairn”. In addition, Mr. Farmer has a thriving Suzuki guitar studio at his home studio in Ann Arbor.

Rob Crozier is a multi-instrumentalist residing in Ann Arbor, MI. He has played the bass in a diverse array of settings over the last 15 years. From the American Roots rock ensemble of the” Nick Strange Band” to the expansive free jazz of the “Sublingual Ensemble” Mr. Crozier has fearlessly explored the traditional and vanguard alike.

He has shared stages with “Credence Clearwater Revisited,” “Blue Traveler,” Peter “Madcat” Ruth, “The Beach Boys,” Perry Robinson, Ted Sirota’s “Rebel Souls,” Cooper Moore with Asif Tsahar, Pauline Oliveros, and many others.

Mr. Crozier is currently busy as a bassist in demand around southeastern Michigan. Along with his numerous stage engagements Mr. Crozier prepares for a third season of Ann Arbor’s live old time radio spot, “Radio Free Bacon,” with Terry Farmer’s “Roadhouse Revival Band,” and is the bassist, percussionist, and vocalist with Celtic/Folk group “Cairn to Cairn.”

His passion for improvisation has inspired him to create the radio series, “Music is Freedom,” which is performed live on WCBN (University of Michigan radio). A rotating cast of local and international talent, this musical forum has been broadcast to the WCBN listenership for the last two years.

In addition, he studies privately both classical and jazz technique, and is pursuing a degree in jazz studies for double bass at the University of Michigan. Mr. Crozier aspires to create Ann Arbor’s first improviser’s guild after completing his degree.
