"The Akademia"

Caleya Black has old-school R&B sensibilities - in the best sense of the notion - 'Our Song' has the kind of seventies instrumentation that made the genre famous to a generation. - The Akademia

One listen to Caleya Black's single "Our Song" will take you back to time when music that ruled airwaves was so soulful, it became a genre. This is not neo-soul. - Urban Magazine

Caleya is a singer/songwriter from Central New Jersey. Caleya has a full band available for all gigs, or can perform with tracks for smaller venues.

Caleya's relevant experience includes performing the national anthem for the Newark Bears, performing with Mos Def during a John Lennon tribute concert, being featured on Hot 97's DJ Magic's "Take it to the Streets" mixtape, and performing for a magazine issue launch honoring Real Housewives of NJ producer, Dorothy Toran.

She has also performed at local venues of all sizes, from the university level to small, intimate events. Caleya has even had an impromptu performance at The Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden.

In October 2016, she was featured in Urban Magazine alongside Empire’s Bryshere Grey. "One listen to Caleya Black's single, Our Song, will take you back to time when music that ruled airwaves was so soulful, it became a genre," declared Urban Magazine.

Following the release of "Our Song", she released her debut EP, “Still Loves”, in the summer of 2017. Caleya has continued to release music since the EP debut and is currently working on additional projects.
