"CALiPH The Resignation Performance"

Gimmick-free smooth R&B and classic old-school rap in one cohesive J Cole-style package, supporting January's debut 'The Resignation' album. - NXNE

"CALiPH - Lead With Love EP Release"

CALiPH has officially released his newest EP Lead With Love after previously releasing “Live For What You Love”, “Survivin’” and “Bin Abouta Dolla” off the project. As the first of a three-part series, Lead with Love presents the core concept of living life through the love of self, love of others and the love for success. The 5-track project’s production ranges from experimental sounds by Lapalux to classic boom-bap vibes from ItsJustKeys, but ultimately echoes cohesiveness through CALiPH’s lyrical vision of love. Hit the jump to learn more about CALiPH’s ‘Lead With’ series and to stream and download the EP. - Hip Hop Canada

"Review: Caliph – The Resignation"

It may be too soon to say, but Caliph might be the next big thing.

After three years of writing and recording, Newmarket native Caliph released his first full-length album The Resignation on January 24.

The album has a slow piano intro soon accompanied by Caliph’s vocals, which draw the listener in. Caliph’s diversity as an artist is showcased on the album with a combination of both upbeat tracks and slower, soulful songs. “Somebody Else” and “Fight the Frustration” stand out because of their catchy beats and relatable lyrics.

On his blog, Caliph explains The Resignation is “a snap shot of the three year period in my life, and deals with situations that just about any young adult can relate to.”

Some tracks feature other artists such as Lisa Banton on “Gettin’ Mine” and Ezra on “Know Your Roll,” giving the album variety. Particularly, the addition of Nicole Edward’s beautiful vocals on “Walk Away” are a needed contrast to Caliph’s fast paced vocals.

The song “Sleepless Sundays” particularly stands out, as it features a piano track coupled with Caliph’s vocals. The Resignation closes with an upbeat, catchy track, featuring Caliph talking about the highs and lows of the writing and recording process, and how the project transformed him.

The Resignation is a combination of well-crafted lyrics, all written by Caliph, and strong instrumentals.

If this album is any indication of Caliph’s talents, then fans should expect great things. - The Gazette (Western University)
