Bio

West London based indie-electro-punk four piece CALLING ALL ASTRONAUTS is the brainchild of former Caffeine guitarist JJ Browning and Vocalist/dj David B of seminal UK rap-metalers US:UK. J had toured the world with Caffeine opening for such luminaries as The Offspring, Blink 182 and My Chemical Romance, and was feeling it was time for a new challenge. Following a chance meeting in June 2008 at a petrol station in Fulham, between the two old friends saw the birth of Calling All Astronauts. They then recruited Croatian born London scenester Kristi B on bass and rounded things off with drummer/electronic soundsmith Andy Clarke who they had spotted rocking the London scene with live drum and bass performances.
The four of them hit it off musically immediately. Drawing inspiration from a diverse list of influences ranging from The Kills to Devo, Weezer to Hadouken they have managed to mix live drums, dance loops, hard as hell indie rock guitars and vocals with attitude, the results of this can be heard in their first demo, a three song sonic sculpture featuring the songs “Scenesters Vs. The World”, “It Could Have Been Lust” and “What’s So Good About?” which they finished at the end of September 2008. The band are currently writing their debut album as they prepare to unleash their live set on an unprepared world, in early 2009.
