The best kept secret in music
Press
The second support was Callum Rafferty, coming across as a more credible Elyar Fox. Utilising the same Loop Station style effect that Daisy Chapman had showcased at Stevens’ previous gig, his use of his own beat-boxed drums, guitar licks and synth loops really lifted up his sound and was a perfect marriage between technology and art live on stage. Rafferty showed off a range of catchy, multi-layered tracks and his handling of the on-stage kit to introduce, drop, and re-introduce sounds was impressive and very listenable, and he skilfully ended his set by mashing in verses from Eminem’s ‘Lose Yourself’ and Macklemore’s ‘Thrift Shop’ into his own written music. Though young his voice was flawless and I’m sure his mix of pop and technology will win over bigger crowds soon.
