Calvin Ray Johnson is a 26 year old singer from Mount Washington, Kentucky. Calvin also has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy but he has never let that stand in the way of his musical dreams. Calvin is not only a singer he is a business owner. He owns a 800 seat music theater in Leitchfield, KY. Located on Highway 62 also known as the Blue Moon of Kentucky Highway a stretch of Road near Rosine, KY where Bill Monroe the father of Bluegrass was born. The theater is called Calvin Ray’s Live Music and has hosted headliner concerts by Don Williams, Ricky Van Shelton, John Anderson, Pam Tillis, Mike Snider and The Grascals. Calvin performs there every saturday night with his outstanding band the Blue Moon Highway Band. Band members include Lead Guitarists Dennis Adkins, the writer of “ACE IN THE HOLE” from Bowling Green, KY. Fiddle Player Ben Probus from Horse Cave , KY. Ben is cousins with FIDDLE

In just 7 years Calvin’s singing ability has won him many musical honors. Including 2 appearances on the Nationally Televised JERRY LEWIS NATIONAL TELETHON in HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA IN 2001 and 2003. In 2001 Calvin performed at the ACM GOLF CLASSIC in BURBANK, CALIFORNIA at the CASTAWAYS RESTAURANT. With the likes of Brad Paisley, Blake Shelton, Montgomery Gentry, and Charlie Daniels. In September of 2004 Calvin appeared in an issue of INTERNATIONAL MUSICIANS MAGAZINE. In 2000 Calvin made it to the KENTUCKY STATE FINALS of the JIMMY DEAN TRUE VALUE CONTRY SHOWDOWN. Before opening his music theater he sang at Jamborees and Music Theatres throughout Kentucky, Indiana and Nashville. Calvin has won many contests throughout his career some of which were at the Nashville Palace in Nashville, TN. Where Alan Jackson, Randy Travis and Ricky Van Shelton got their starts. Calvin’s musical styles include New Country, Old Country, 50’s Rock, and the Blues.
Although Calvin now has his own music theater his goal is to one day have a label contract and to have a hit on the radio.
Calvin also would like to venture out and perform at other places around the country. Opening
for Headliners or putting on concerts.
