CAMBO & The Life present their fourth release “PLANET OF THE ANIMALS” (+ bonus track “SKINNY GIRL”) as part of a 12-month song series titled “CALL & RESPONSE.” Each month, San Francisco based DIY pop/rock band CAMBO & The Life release a new single in collaboration with a different visual artist (painter, photographer, jewelry, tattoo, etc.). This month, Cambo has collaborated with Meds’ close friend Oliver Black to design artwork for “PLANET OF THE ANIMALS.”

I hope most of you who read this will be in San Francisco for Thanksgiving. I mean, because, you essentially do not want to miss Cambo and this band “The Life” perform at 19 Broadway in Fairfax on Thanksgiving Eve (November 25th.)

It is without hesitation that i say, if you don’t know them yet, you will. Check out Cambo & The Life, the posse of cool cats blowing up the scene in San Francisco with a fresh flavor. Lead by charismatic MC Cameron Bartolini (he calls himself a “monster of thick kicks and face melters”), the show gets your blood flowing in a dance-your-ass-off sort of way.

Their sound is mesmerizing: a well-orchestrated fusion of soul/funk, smart rhymes, a little synth-pop + good ole’ fashioned rock n’ roll. Backing Cambo, you’ll hear DJ Effective (Kyle Dennison) on turn-tables, Teague Sterling on drums, Jeff Chambers on guitar + Richard Humphrey on bass. To top it off, sirens Alexi Meraud and Amelie Kindler belt out a saucy croon to choreographed dance steps, like modern-day dream girls.

Cambo, formerly a member of hip-hop group The Instant Messengers, is seasoned in his performance skills. A national SLAM poetry finalist, the depth of his rhymes make you feel as if you know him personally: they grip you, make you smile, make you dance + make your night out at the club just a little bit better. Also, his penchance for keeping eye contact with his fans is especially charming (FYI…the ladies love him).
