CAMELIA LATIN JAZZ duo,trio,quartet

CAMELIA LATIN JAZZ duo,trio,quartet

BandLatinJazz

We specialize in instrumental latin/caribbean music and can be as soft or as lively as needed. For soft music we perform mostly: bossa novas, boleros and cha-chas; and for more lively music we do: salsa, merengue, samba and calypso. We've combined the best of 2 worlds: latin rhythms with jazz solos.

Biography

Camelia Latin Jazz is a duo, trio or quartet, depending on the available space or budget.

Its founder, Roderick Camelia, a native from Curaçao, Dutch Antilles, is well versed in all Latin and Caribbean styles (merengue, salsa, bossa nova, samba, calypso etc.) as well as an accomplished guitar player. He takes great pride in being a graduate of the prestigious Berklee College of Music. All the members are professional musicians who work full time in the music industry.

Camelia Latin Jazz provides instrumental Latin and Caribbean rhythms with jazz improvisation, also known as latin jazz, for all types of private occasions: weddings, award ceremonies, conventions, corporate events, fund raisers, political events, private parties, sales meetings, etc. The group does also public performances: restaurants, barrooms, lounges, festivals, etc..

It has performed mostly at private functions, held at, for example: The Museum of Fine Arts, The Westin Hotel (The Medal of Hope Award for mayor Thomas M. Menino), The Country Club, Tremont Hotel, The Omni Parker House; and also educational institutions, like: Harvard University, Boston College, Suffolk University, Tufts University, etc..

We also feel honored and privileged for having been selected to perform at SONICBIDS' HOUSEWARMING PARTY.

The group can adjust to any atmosphere by playing as softly or as lively as needed. It can also increase its size to a quintet or sextet, by including more percussions.

The group may decide to use only hand percussions instead of a drum set when space is limited.

Discography

What we currently have is a live demo cd.

Since it's no secret that today, after computers made it into the studios, any studio recording can sound "perfect" compared to its live rendition, we've chosen to keep our demos "live" with all the background chats and conversations, so you get to hear "the real deal" without studio corrections.

"What you hear is what you'll get".

Set List

Because of the guitar and piano solos, one tune normally lasts around 10 minutes.

When we're doing a 1-hour performance, we normally play the full 60 minutes.

For 2-hour performances we play 2 sets with a 15-minute break in between.

3-hour and longer performances usually receive 40 minutes of music with 20-minute breaks.

Performances which are longer than 3 hours, usually require a surcharge. (Our price policies are posted on the website.)
