Bio
Claire Machado is a graduate of San Jose State University with a BA in Creative Arts. She has performed regularly in the San Francisco Bay Area since the 1980's.
Prior to starting Cam Engine, her first solo project, Claire performed as the keyboard player for the Mark Castro Band and wrote the lyrics to several MC favorites: On My Way, No More Games, One Lifetime, Nightbird, Losing Ground, Long Distance, and I'll be with you.
Songwriting since the age of 13, Claire believes her songwriting talent comes from her paternal grandfather who was well known on the island of Terceira for 'fado' singing, in an impromptu ballad format. Claire has enjoyed singing since the age of 2.
Her influences include: Jim Croce, Johnny Cash, The Beatles, Daniel Fogelberg, Joan Baez, Dolly Parton, Cher, Olivia Newton-John, Helen Reddy, Anne Murray, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, Foreigner, Journey, Queen, The Eagles, The Stones, Pink Floyd, Annie Haslam, Annie Lennox, Elton John, Jimi Hendrix, Peter Gabriel, Sting, Stevie Nicks, Grace Slick, Karen Carpenter, James Taylor, Paul Thorn, Slaid Cleaves, Darden Smith, Natalie Merchant, Beth Hart, Tasmin Archer, Rico Reyes (percussionist/singer/songwriter from Santana), Dave Brown and Inner Circle.
