A Washington C.H. band that recently placed highly in a world-wide competition will be performing a series of their own original songs during Eddie’s Run today.

Cameron Hartshorn, a Washington C.H. resident, has always been musically talented, taking top honors at many singing competitions. He recently put this talent to a different use when he and several others formed a band, the Cameron Chase Band. Hartshorn wanted to get the most out of the band that he could and decided, thanks to urging from his father, Ed Hartshorn, to perform an original piece and submit it to the Unsigned Only Music Competition.

Unsigned Only is designed for solo artists, bands, and singers all over the world who are looking for exposure, recognition, and a chance to be noticed by industry professionals. The goal of Unsigned Only is to find outstanding, talented performers, a newcomer or veteran, raw or polished, that needs to be discovered. Conceived of and produced by the team who put on the prestigious International Songwriting Competition (ISC), Unsigned Only is a fresh and novel approach to other music competitions.

Judges for the 2016 competition included big names such as Aimee Mann; R. City; The Killers; Bone Thugs N Harmony; The Struts; Dustin Lynch; Kelly Price; Darryl McDaniels (Run DMC); Aaron Shust; Rapsody; Hayes Carll and many more.

“The competition was pointed out to me by my dad, he came to me and told me to check it out,” Hartshorn said. “We made it to the semi-finals in that competition this year with really a demo we put out, which wasn’t up to even our finished standards that we have. We were up against a lot of people, it could have been hundreds, maybe thousands, as it is a world-wide competition. We ended up making it to the top 20 with our song, which was incredibly surprising to us. Since we were so well-received at the competition, the plan now is to get final mixes completed so we can start marketing. It is a lot easier to get booked when you have examples of your music and we want that to sound as good as possible.”

With this achievement under their belt, the members of the band have a lot of work, but seem very ready for the challenge that lies ahead. The members of the band, Cameron Hartshorn on keyboard and vocals, Branson Moody as guitarist, Bill Chatfield as drummer and Mark Chidester Jr. on bass, will be on stage at Eddie’s Run starting at 3:30 p.m. Additionally, Andrew Faust is credited as helping with lyrics and songwriting and even helped Hartshorn create the demo that claimed a spot in the top 20 of Unsigned Only.

“I would like to invite the public back out again to Eddie’s Run,” Ed said during a recent video advertisement for the event. “There you will see live great bands, you’ll see The Dragin’ Angels classic cars and a lot of other classic cars and specialty cars. We have the VFW Riders that will lead you on a nice long motorcycle ride, and Felix Fields will be playing Motown there. The Cameron Chase Band will be performing and the Thirty OT 6 band will also be there. We have Super Heroes for Kids, Heroes Alliance and the 501st Legion of the Dark Empire. There is a lot to do and admission is free. All the money goes to help kids and adults who are special needs or disabled with going to the Special Olympics, with job training and placement, uniforms and even transportation services. So come on out and join us.”

Thanks to Ed’s efforts, the third year of Eddie’s Run saw the most success as the group had thousands of residents turn out. Between a handful of bands, plenty of attractions for the family to see and a bike ride that benefited Fayette Progressive, a total of $5,828.67 was raised. Eddie and his dad then went to Fayette Progressive and donated a check to be used on a variety of programs and items for the Special Olympics later in 2015.

Eddie’s Run will be held at the Fayette County Fairgrounds beginning at 11 a.m. A complete schedule of events can be found at For more information or to volunteer, visit Eddie’s Run on Facebook, and find contact information on or by contacting Ed at (614) 403-2203.
