Bio

One listen to the lush, soul-infused pop stylings of 19-year-old singer/ songwriter/ musician Cameron Connerty and there will be no doubt that he is an artist destined for greatness. From the flowing vibe of "Tell Me What’s Up" to the classic love anthem "What You Need," Cameron’s music brings together the many diverse realms of contemporary pop, rock, and soul and weaves them into his own unique sound; a sound that he says is emotional and soul-filled.

"In all my songs I try to bring out the soul that’s within the music," he explains. "That’s very important to me. And I don’t necessarily mean soul as it relates to a genre of music, but as it relates to the feeling that goes into the song and keeping that emotion and that soul that you put out when you write and when you sing. I like relaying that to other people and tapping into what other people feel."

Cameron has always wanted to perform – either as an actor or singer. "When I started out I was only singing. I probably learned a lot about musicals from my sister. I’d always sing with her. When I was little, we had a restaurant -- I was about three or four -- and I would sing "Love Shack" on stage every night at about midnight."

In addition to his signature tunes "Tell Me What’s Up" and "What You Need," Cameron has written and recorded an array of songs that cover a broad spectrum of subjects and styles. With the romantic ballad, "Heaven," Cameron reminds us of the possibilities of new love while the infectious, pop-rock-flavored "The One" dares the listener to resist singing along. On "Start At The End," Cameron caters to anyone who has experienced the uneasy feelings and awkward moments of the first situations in a relationship and that longing to jump straight to the comfortable essence of love.

No matter how diverse the songs – soul, pop or alternative rock -- Cameron’s musical aim is always the same: to leave his listeners with something positive and memorable. "I try to write about something that relates to other people," he notes. "I think that’s a challenge and I think you have to work hard to do that. I try to not just write something that’s catchy. I want to create something with a message, with a story behind it and at the same time turn it into something that people will enjoy listening to."

Following in the footsteps of musical icons like Prince, Stevie Wonder, and George Michael, Cameron aspires to do it all—sing, write, play, and produce. In addition to writing songs, rehearsing with his band several times a week, and playing live shows, Cameron has also delved into the art of studio production.

Honing his artistic skills at a young age, seizing opportunities to learn every aspect of the music business, and creating music that touches the heart and soul – Cameron almost sounds too good to be true. But this multi-talented teen is serious about his craft and about his mission and says he someday plans to develop acts of his own. "I want to do anything that I can do to give back to people who have as much of an urge and an ambition as I do."
