Cam Martin is a singer/songwriter searching for the sweet spot in your soul that is illuminated by the dashboard light, a long dark stretch of road, and a voice makes you feel like you’re not alone.

Biography

“I’m searching for a way to connect…” Cam Martin is on a mission, a music ministry if you will, to reach people with his unique talents. Crafting his own style of confessional songwriting he effortlessly melds biblical imagery and parable with modern day waywardness. Cam is called to write songs that resonate with the human condition.

Music has always been there for Cam. “The radio was always playing in my house, my dad sang in the church choir, and one of my fondest memories was playing the air-guitar in the third grade talent show…me and my best friend, Steve Manuel (who Cam still writes and records with), pretended baseball bats were our guitars and we brought the house down!” He was hooked.

Nowadays he’s busy trying to hook people with his voice and message. On his debut album, Forgiveness, Cam walks us through songscapes that can be as lush as the Gardens of Babylon or as bone-dry as the Sinai desert. Compelling songs like Fight On Through, with its invitation to put on the armor of God and fight the temptation of this world and Went Out To Find a Man, with its call to be Christ-like and forgive in the face of harrowing wrongs.“I used to write about what I thought people wanted to hear, but when I let go and started writing about what was in my heart that was, oddly enough, when people started telling me that they really felt a kinship with the songs.”

With veteran producer Dave Nachodsky (Invisible Sound Studios), who has twisted knobs for Bonnie Raitt, Everything But The Girl, and Keb Mo’, Cam felt a kindred spirit. “We both knew the process can be difficult, but that it could be achieved if we committed ourselves.” This commitment to crafting a beautiful soul-searching album with candid emotional lyrics is what Cam hopes connects with his listeners. We happen to think he has found what he is searching for.

Fight On Through

Written By: Cameron Martin Ailiff, Kim Arden Copeland

And in the dark of night, the stars spread across the sky
Oh how the heavens declare His Majesty where the angels fly
How can the One who loosed Orion’s cords love me so?
And even when I turn away He won’t let me go

Oh how I love His Heavens’ Majesty
Your King, My King, did rescue me
I breathe and sing at the behest of You
My sword and my shield, And I’ma fight on through

And He’s like a King who owned slaves, he set them free
And I’m like a man who kills men, a sinner lives inside me
And because the King saw fit to send His only Son
I got a fightin’ chance to know His love

Oh how I love His Heavens’ Majesty
Your King, My King, did rescue me
I breathe and sing at the behest of You
My sword and my shield, And I’ma fight on through

And I feel so blessed like a baby to its mother’s breast
Here’s a peace I’ve never known
For your yoke is easy when I surrender and come home
For God so loved the world that he gave His only Begotten Son

Oh how I love His Heavens’ Majesty
Your King, My King, did rescue me
I breathe and sing at the behest of You
My sword and my shield, And I’ma fight on through

I’ma fight on through yeah, I’ma fight, I’ma fighter, I’m a fight
Your King, My King did rescue me
I fight, I fight, Oh I’ma fight it through
I’m a fighter, I’m a fighter

A Homecoming

Written By: Cameron Martin Ailiff

So they went and wrote me off
Said we ain’t gonna wait for you no more
I was like a cyclone, or more like a ship that ran ashore
And I wanna say that, even though I was falling
I was always fighting for that one more chance
None that you would give me, oh but He did give me
Brought me into His house, under His command
Home
And these false teachers, fake preachers
Phony hopes they hang by a thread
But you can’t have me, because I’ve been had
By the One who came back from the dead

And the heart that matters most is the heart that beats again
I’ve been steady prayin’ baby, I’ve lost my friends
I was on the ride, I was all ‘bout me
I was too far gone, but I saw enough to see

And in His father’s house there are many mansions
Waiting for the kingdom come…Home

And the heart that matters most is the heart that beats again
I’ve been steady prayin’ baby, I’ve lost my friends
I was on the ride, I was all this way
I was too far gone, but I saw enough to see

Went Out To Find A Man

Written By: Cameron Martin Ailiff

My Daddy was a cop, and I knew where he kept his gun
Now I wasn’t supposed to touch it, sometimes you do what’s gotta be done
Went out to find a man, who put his hands where he should not
He was my girlfriend’s father, I’s gonna put him in a plot
I know the Lord says forgive or be forgiven not
But those are hard words when you’re mind is seared with flame
Concrete in your heart, and kerosene in your veins
-Went out to find a man, Lord, went out to find a man

Drivin’ round Hell bound, I was goin’ to find my man
Some folks need to learn a lesson, before they understand
And then the Lord’s angel appeared to me
And He said lest you be judged, judge not
And His words float high, above my fury’s din
Don’t hate the sinner, but you can hate the sin
-Went out to find a man, Lord, went out to find a man

I went out to find my man but instead I was found
And when I saw my girl she fell to the ground
She cried Thank you Lord for not giving him a shot
She cried thank you Lord for You and he are all I got
And the Lord says forgive or be forgiven not
They’re still hard words with forgiveness on your tongue
Gotta love your enemies despite what they done
-Went out to find a man, Lord, went out to find a man

Love Raining Down On Me

Written By: Cameron Martin Ailiff

-Standing at the well, the water’s deep, but you need no pail
He knew my past, but He didn’t flinch, looked toward the sky as He said with a grin
Oh there’s so much more where that came from, with Me you’ll never go thirsty
Love Raining Down On me, Lord I know
Love Raining Down On me
And I know that I was called to carry my own tree
And I’ll carry on with Love Raining Down On me.
-Suspicion gathered like a cloud, how could I ever doubt?
I fell to my knees begging Father, Lord please
He said I’ll wash away your sins and put you back together again
And there’s so much more where that came from, with Me you’ll never go hungry
Love Raining Down On me, Lord I know
Love Raining Down On me
And I know that I‘ve been tried and I was found guilty
And I’ll carry on with Love Raining Down On me.
Bridge:
And I stood aware He loosed those chains in there
I had’em wrapped around my heart
He took this broken man, and sifted him like sand
When I’m feelin’ like I’m broken, put me back together again.
Back together again.
Love Raining Down On me, Lord I know
Love Raining Down On me
And I know that I’ve been snared and I’ve been set free
And I’ll carry on, with Love Raining Down On me.

Who Touched Me

Written By: Cameron Martin Ailiff, Douglas Shawe, Steven Thomas Derrell, Andrew Lane

She had spent half her life begging doctors for a cure
But the pain was ever nigh, too much for her to endure
And then she reached out to the One, the Only One
Who Touched Me, He said
Who Touched Me, your faith has made you whole

And I fall grasping at His Robe, face down again in the dirt
But He sees me and He loves me as I am, all my pain, all my hurt
And then she reached out to the One, the Only One
Who Touched Me, He said
Who Touched Me, your faith has made you whole
Lord it was me, Lord it was me
And then she reached out to the One, the Only One

And now He comes calling after me
The always Good Shepherd looking for His lost sheep
Who Touched Me, I said
Who Touched Me, His love has made me whole
Who Touched Me, He said
Who Touched Me, your faith has made you whole

Goodnight Sweet Prince

Written By: Cameron Martin Ailiff, Kim Arden Copeland

Goodnight sweet prince, as you lay down
I’ll tell you a story as you fall asleep
Goodnight my child, but first let’s pray the Lord our soul to keep
Now the story starts with a boy and a stone and a giant and his army
Fear gripped the land, but the boy’s faith was strong
For he knew most of all
God’s Love is like a waterfall

Now rest assured this world will send some giants your way
And you may find yourself on your knees to cry, but instead pray
Now the story starts with a boy and a stone and a giant and his army
Fear grips the man, but your spirit will remain strong
Because you know most of all
God’s Love is like a waterfall

Goodnight sweet child
As lay your head down to rest
Don’t you worry now the Lord will always give you strength for His tests
He will always love you, and he will never forget
Fear grips the land, your faith will remain strong
For you know most of all
God’s Love is like a waterfall
