Camp Lo

Since breaking onto the scene with 1997's Platinum Classic "Uptown Saturday Night" Camp Lo has been on a musical journey filled with their own brand of Blaxploitation slang. It’s been all hip hop and always innovative. Camp Lo is a rare breed of emcee that has always been loved as much above ground as underground. In the streets and throughout every level of society. Their unique fashion, performance, emcee style and energy have always stood out, resonated and transcended time. No matter how many times you hear their classic joints, its like the first time, every time. Worldwide from the moment Camp Lo takes over the stage, their energy takes over the room and audiences know they are about to have "Good Times". From their Hip Hop Classics like "Luchini" to their fresh new joints like "Ticket for Two" and "On Smash" feat. Styles P and Pete Rock, Camp Lo is always fresh.

The Hip-Hop Classic “Luchini” aka “This is It” introduced the world to a new sound. Camp Lo brought vintage street fashion and culturally rich slang to the golden era of hip-hop. They were Black, artistic and well dressed. Camp Lo was far ahead of their time which was the plan all along.

Uptown Saturday Night was heralded as a masterpiece, when it was just the blueprint for things to come. Their sophomore release, “Let's Do It Again” (2002) was an experiment that fused their 80's influence with Blaxplotation themes and introduced new characters and lingo. Like a great Diamond Heist, it was all planned and set things in motion to gain new international recognition.

During what seemed like a hiatus, Camp Lo recorded over 70 songs. Collaborations with DJ Honda, Will Smith, Kid Capri, Stimulated Dummies and De La Soul were adored by hip-hop lovers in Japan and Europe. Those that didn’t find their way to compilations or independent releases, stay locked in the vaults.

The public re-emergence of this dynamic duo came in 2007 with “Black Hollywood” which received great reviews. The album boasted old school drums and elements from electro 80's funk with Classic 70's Soul. The Super Fly themes introduced us to Geechi Suede and Sonny Cheeba's alter ego's Stone & Rob who were further explored on their 2008 release appropriately titled “Stone and Rob Caught on Tape”.

For fans of the cinematic cult classic “Coolie High”, Stone & Rob are the poetic thugs with their most recent release “Another Heist”, the trilogy completion of the Stone & Rob experience. Produced by Camp Lo's quiet 3rd member Ski Beats (producer of Jay-Z's Reasonable Doubt), “Another Heist” takes the listener deeper into the essence of the diamond crook s alter ego. This time the trip adds the soulful jazz elements of the Blaxplotation era and those influenced by that sound in the 80's. It completes a journey through all elements of Black music (Blues, Jazz, and African Music) and Black Culture.

Camp Lo has many more stops on this soul train before reaching its destination; “A Piece of the Action”, the long awaited major label return and Camp Lo’s new release due in fall 2010, "80 Blocks from Tiffany's, produced by Pete Rock.
