Bio

Born in Calgary, Candace Lacina moved to Saskatoon at a young age and it was there that she experienced a passion for a life filled with music.

By age 14, Candace was performing, songwriting, and collaborating with world renowned musicians. With these early influences and experiences, Candace started to make some serious waves in the Canadian music industry. At age 15, with the independent release of a 6 song EP she showcased her debut tracks to a crowd of over 800 people, and sold 1,700 copies in the first 6 weeks.

In 1999 she shared the stage in Calgary with Tegan and Sara and in the springtime of the same year she sang along side country music sensation Shania Twain during the ‘Come on Over’ tour. Through her role a cast member on Telemiracle, Candace learned from backstage passes with a number of Canadian recording artist including such talents as Beverley Mahood, Johnny Reid, Jimmy Rankin, Michelle Wright, Melanie Doane, Connie Kaldor and Tom Jackson.

In 2006, Candace received a 'golden ticket' and travelled to Toronto to compete in the CTV reality TV show Canadian IDOL. Since then Candace has continued to perform solid, captivating shows. You can find her singing in local coffee shops, corporate events, and other well known establishments in and around Calgary.

Candace utilizes music as a way to support the efforts of local nonprofit organizations such as the Rwanda Genocide Awareness Project, PRIDE Calgary and the Calgary Health Trust, Tim Horton’s Smile Cookie Campaign. She recently opened for the Temptations and performed at the BMO Centre as an opening act for The Pointer Sisters.

A wide variety of other musical projects such as providing an educational works for the National Film Board of Canada, writing a children’s album and collaborating on a project in support of Music Therapy have kept her motivated to do what she loves most!!

Candace’s new EP, “Satisfied” was released to a crowd of over 800 people at Mount Royal University’s Wyckham House on Feb 4th , 2012.
