”My whole life people have told me I sing like Ric Ocasek of The Cars. So I decided to put my skill to use and just go for it,” said Randy, lead singer, rhythm guitarist and frontman of Candy-O. In 2010 Randy (formerly of IOU) began to realize his vision of creating a worthy tribute to The Cars. To get started Randy reunited with his old band mate Rob, a skilled, experienced drummer. Filling in the lead guitar spot, Randy added Gibb in early 2011. Gibb’s insightful combination of solid lead guitar riffs along with compelling keyboard like rhythms has highlighted Candy-O’s uncanny likeness to that of The Cars. Lastly, bassist Danny joined the band and upped the ante, taking on the Benjamin Orr role on co-lead vocals and trademark bass guitar rhythms.
Candy-O breathes tone and accuracy into every song, with spot on delivery of all The Cars’ radio hits as well as many other timeless album cuts. Candy-O is the complete experience of The Cars’ live performance in every way; the look, the sound, the energy and the vibe. When asked why he formed Candy-O, Randy said “Just to have fun”. Come along with Candy-O, bringing the fun and excitement of the 80's into the 21st Century!
