Bio

Cane was born Travis Rowland Ludden on April 14, 1986 in Washington D.C. Travis grew up in Stafford, VA and relocated to Fredericksburg, VA at the age of 13. Growing up he was always involved in art and athletics. With his father being a head high school football coach he was somewhat born into the sport. Both of his grandmothers were professional artists (one, an avid piano player and singer/ musician). With a family history of art and music, creativity came natural to Travis and so he became infatuated with music at a young age. Influenced by his father's love for Blues, Soul, and Classic Rock, Travis developed an open mind and diverse interest in music. Although his family's artistic history greatly influenced his attraction to music, Travis really got acquainted with Hip Hop in elementary school thanks to his older brother. He instantly became very interested. Travis associates MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice with his earliest memories of Hip Hop, but after hearing rappers like L.L. Cool J, Nas, Bone Thugs N' Harmony and Biggie, his mind was made up; he wanted to rap too.
Talk about starting young; Travis wrote his first rap in the 4th grade and from then on, he continued to write. He kept a personal notebook as he found writing as a tool to vent, writing about life, girls and struggles.
Travis continued to write throughout high school and finally began to record his music. With a karaoke machine, and a 4 track recorder it was clear that passion is what continued to drive the young hip hop head.
(After reading about the legendary boxer Rubin "Hurricane" Carter and becoming inspired, Travis dubbed himself "The Hurricane". Hurricane was later cut short and made Cane due to mainstream artists surfacing with the same alias of Hurricane.)
Towards his later years in high school, football began to take much of his time away from music; though, this did not stop him. Him and a teammate found a way to incorporate the two by recording weekly diss tracks against their opponents and blaring them in the locker room before games. He often linked up with high school friend Trey Brown (Tha Workz), who he started recording with then and kept in touch throughout college.
Travis continued his journey and went on to attend the prestigous Virginia Military Institute where he received a scholarship to play football. Travis sacrificed the freedom of doing music and living a normal lifestyle for the love of the game of football.
Although stuck for 4 long years in the rigorous Institute with no real chance to concentrate on music, Travis finally graduated in May of 2009. He began hitting the recording hard with Tha Workz immediately after graduation and has been on a steady incline since then.
Cane has been waiting his turn for 4 years, but is finally free with a degree in Business/ Economics and a hungry state of mind, with his eyes on the top of the Hip Hop world.
