Hailing from the same stomping ground as The Flaming Lips and The Starlight Mints, Cannonball Sunday is blazing a new trail out of Norman, OK that is all their own.
Wonderful songwriting filled with catchy melodies and souring, emotive guitar colors fill the new album currently being mastered by Trent Bell at Bell Labs in Norman. The self produced album will have seven tracks and should be due out in the summer of 2008.
Cannonball Sunday was formed in 2005 by a group of musicians sick of playing in cover bands, but still wanting to capture the financial success that playing in a cover band brings. "No one is going to come listen to your songs unless you are able to capture something catchy, energetic and memerable." Says Greg Singleton. "We don't consider ourselves successful until we start bringing in actual fans of the band and not just our friends to our shows."
It's evident in the songwriting of Cannonball Sunday, that they know how to capture the audience and how to keep their attention and drive them to their website asking for more shows.
The band is currently looking to play some festivals in the area to broaden their fanbase. "We have a plan that we've talked about and a major part of that plan is just getting out there and putting our music in places where people are receptive to it." Says Singleton "and playing festivals is going to play a big roll in that plan."
