Canoe

The moniker Canoe is the outlet for the singing and songwriting of Robert Losier and his production partner, engineer and collaborator, Michael Burke: a duo from Boston, MA who have been working together for over 5 years. The music is an eclectic mix of rock, folk and pop, that concentrates on subtly detailed songwriting, unique arrangements and vast harmonies.

The new album 'Things Like This' was released on May 8th, and is the duo's first full album effort. It was produced almost entirely in Burke's professional-grade home studio and was mastered by Grammy nominee Jeff Lipton of Peerless Mastering. Canoe is currently promoting the album and setting up, at least to begin with, small, stripped down acoustic shows.

Robert and Michael were childhood acquaintances who gravitated towards each other through a mutual passion for music. They have been working together in one form or another since 2006. 'Things Like This' is their most ambitious project to date and is a sure sign of promising things to come. Robert is a graduate of the Music Industry program from Northeastern University and Michael graduated from The New England Institute of Art, having studied Audio & Media Technology.

The strength of Canoe is the passion and honesty that can be heard in Robert's lyrics and voice. This music is true art and from a place deep down. No matter your musical preferences, you won't hear any fluff or throw-away pop songs from Canoe. To quote the song 'Medicine Head,' 'Do you want to hear the painbirds sing?' If so, Canoe is for you.
