"BBC Introducing in Suffolk pay tribute to Beatles’ classic"

Caomhe’s cover really captures something of Twist and Shout showing why it always was such an excellent closer. Beginning with a slight mix of her delightful vocals and little sprigs of guitar, it builds up to a satisfyingly summery reworking of the original’s chorus. New elements, such as the sneaky hint of mandolin, add a real depth to the whole and make it rather hard to resist. All of the vibrancy of the original is there and yet it’s smoother and more stylish, giving a wonderfully fresh perspective on one of the era’s greatest tunes.

"Caomhe Holds Wisdom Above Her Years"

Every so often, I chance upon an artist who blows me away within seconds of hearing their music. I’m quite fussy and unless you’re John Lennon, resurrected, I’m a hard nut to crack. However, the moment Caomhe (pronounced Keeva) opened her mouth, I was stunned.

I saw Caomhe at Breakout, an event held at Proud2 in Camden. The venue is converted stables each created into a room for different artists in which to perform. It’d be an understatement to say she had the entire room transfixed and during the 20 minutes or so that Caohme performed, everyone was speechless; drinks were put to one side, phones disappeared back into the pockets of the crowd and people sat on the floor fighting the cramp creeping into their left leg, unable to move in fear of missing the beauty that seemed to fly out of her mouth with such ease. I looked at my friend, looked at the strangers sitting next me and back at Caohme; this girl had us all in the palm of her hand, and while she sat there playing her guitar, she was oblivious to exactly how much her music had mesmerized us. Of course I can’t speak for everyone when I say this, but the whooping and rounds of applause which followed her set spoke for us all.

The more I listen to Caomhe, the more I realise how lucky I am that I get to discover these amazing artists full of talent, passion for their art and determination. Think of Taylor Swift… but 100 times better. Think of Nashville. Think of Johnny Cash and June Carter rolled into one. Think of a girl who holds wisdom way above her years and who encapsulates this in every single one of her lyrics. My favourite song of hers is probably Streetlights, but I can’t tell you why as it’s impossible to sum up those three-minutes-and-13-seconds in a few words. It hit a nerve the moment I heard Caohme play it live and every time I press play on her Soundcloud, I’m taken back to that moment.

I’d really recommend checking her out as she’s going to be a huge name within the music industry, I’m certain of it.

"Caomhe"

Caomhe is an 18 year old singer/songwriter from the east of England. Despite the difficulties in pronouncing Caomhe’s name (Keeva), there is little else that this artist could be criticised for. Her songs are uplifting and quite frankly rather addictive, speaking as someone who has had her playing on repeat for the past few days. The melody behind the lyrics is delicate and energising. Typical for her genre of pop/country, she satisfies the teenage angst within most girls, with lyrics illustrating the highs and lows of life, predominantly centred around romantic entanglement.

She has a sound very similar to Taylor Swift, a definite contender for her genre so watch out Miss Swift! Her quirky voice is great, probably most similar to Alanis Morissette. The full EP features 5 songs, all of which are easy to fall in love with. It’s difficult to name a favourite though ‘Second best’ has lyrics that are particularly capturing, “I am fine with being second best and I am fine not being the prettiest.” ‘Streetlights’ is also extremely catchy, following the distress of a breakup.

The BBC has been very interested in Caomhe as of late, recognising her as an emerging talent.’ And a talent she certainly is, I don’t think it will be long before she becomes quite popular, what with her relatable lyrics and refreshing style. Her songs are up on iTunes and if you’re looking for something new to listen to I would definitely recommend giving Caomhe a go!

"Suffolk acts enjoy BBC Introducing Musicians' Masterclass"

Suffolk artists say they picked up invaluable advice at the second BBC Introducing Musicians' Masterclass.
The event at the Abbey Road and Maida Vale studios featured workshops and talks from renowned musicians, DJs and leading players in the music industry.
BBC Introducing in Suffolk picked Ria Ritchie, Caomhe, Timmy Booth, Nee Hi and Refracture to attend the event.

Singer-songwriter Caomhe, from Bungay, said she took advantage of the chance to pass on CDs to Jo Whiley and Zane Lowe as well as her fellow artists.
"I made so many friends amongst the musicians and now I have loads of CDs and connections," she said.
"You'd think it was really competitive but it was a good vibe."
Caomhe said Tom Robinson, who presents BBC 6 Music's Introducing show, provided encouraging advice for songwriters.
"He was motivating everyone to keep on writing - to write awful songs and there will be a good one soon," she said.
She said other highlights were based on the industry side of music, including how to increase the chances of playing a festival or support slot.
