CaP DoLLa, birth name LaDarian Dont'e Crosby was born & raised in Chicago, Illinois. CaP grew up in the notorious Cabrini Green housing projects in an era where it was crowned one of the most dangerous places in the country. riddled with drugs, murder & other criminal activity CaP calls it just the neighborhood. "i honestly never felt safer than when in the greens, its the only home i know to this day". Coming from a single parent household, raised by a mother who endorsed education & Ethics. Crosby was a Principal listed student. The harsh realities of the world outside his door & his classroom would provide a different sort of education. One CaP likes to call the school of hard knocks. "Where I'm from you gotta hold your own or get it taken from you. so we learned how to make a proper fist early". As time passed, boys grew to men, circumstances shifted, street wars were fought. Familiar faces faded, people were killed & even some innocent bystanders became victims. "as bad as things May have been, it just became a part of life for us coming up. When you're born in this & this is what you see everyday what other life is there? its what you know". CaP was fortunate enough to be able to leave his neighborhood regularly. Being a promising student he was invited to attend scholar programs that allowed him to see the world outside of Cabrini, Chicago & Illinois. CaP met different people from different races & different walks of life, broadening his outlook & expanding his understanding of the way the world works. "It was exciting for me to see EVERYBODY! Black, White, Latino, Asian... I got to see there was more out there, but still you come home. to whats reality for you. It made me want more for my family & the people around me". CaP DoLLa has been noted for lyricism & expression. A since of true grit & rude awakening in his style. A method that subtracts discretion by adding reality. "When you've seen what I've seen, been where I've been & lived trough what I survived you owe it to anybody willing to listen to tell it. The good the bad & the ugly.
