CAPE TRIBULATION – Cape Tribulation
(Impedance)
The skinny: Angular riffs, not angular haircuts.
With a tip of the hat to Big Black’s Songs About Fucking right at the top, Cape Tribulation’s self-titled record starts off in fine form. From there the album only gets better, the riffs are tinny and the bass is molten. The record crawls from the speakers like a cantankerous drunkard, immediately conjuring comparisons to the golden age of Chicago noise rock, obscure Amphetamine Reptile LPs and bands that will never get the dues owed to them. Cape Tribulation is a brilliant showcase of this Wollongong three-piece’s interpretation of the type of rock & roll you should listen to.
It’s worth checking out for: Efforts like Cabin Boy and Clear.

Bio
CAPE TRIBULATION are a three piece band considered part of the noise rock, post-hardcore, and alternative rock genres. They have the kind of sound you have heard before but haven't really. Urgent intense vocals and angular guitar over heavy solid rhythms and grinding bass.
They have gigged over the past two years supporting bands such as Hard-Ons,The Meanies, Further, the Celibate Rifles and the Bakelite Age as well as supporting 'The Clouds' recently under their alter-ego 'Mount Glorious'.
They found themselves falling into the Jesus Lizard, Future of the Left and perhaps at times Slint category of influences
Nik (guitar/vocals) - formerly of Brisbane band 'Hateman' followed that with a year or so with 'Lustre 4' and more recently 'Captain Nemo' and 'Little Death'
Phil (drums/backing vocals) - formerly of Tasmanian band 'Fridge', a couple of years with 'Tumbleweed' then 'El Sanchez' and 'Little Death'
Andy (bass/backing vocals) - formerly of NZ punk bands 'Suspect Device' & 'Boner' and more recently 'Superpussy' also with a brief stint in 'Life Adjustment Disorder'
