"I Can Lift You Up…"

[Safe and Sound] blows up. Way up. This beat is the shizz and a perfect mix in of the horns just rocks my world. Now comes the hard part, actually getting someone who can sing and not ruin all the obvious hard work and skill that went into making this dope beat. Well that's no problem here either. A nice mixture of great music with great vocals. So if you dig bands like Empire of the Sun, The Limousines, Two Door Cinema Club, and Dan Black, then you’re gonna dig this band too. What do all those bands have in common? They’ve recently blown up and they’ve produced some of my favorite albums over the past 2 years. Soooo, it’s going to be fun to see what’s on the horizon for these guys. I predict big things. Check it. - myuniversallanguage.com

"Capital Cities: Dec. 4 @ The Troubadour"

Simonian controlled the audience with addictive dance beats and tempos that caused strangers to dance with each other. Merchant's vocals seemed embedded with frequencies that quickly stuck in your head. Everyone sang along throughout the night regardless if they were first-time listeners. Capital Cities’ music proved to be extremely catchy as many continued to sing after the songs were over. The 45-minute setlist begged for more. - Campus Circle

Bio

Who knew an unsigned band that met on Craigslist could do so much? Dual frontmen Ryan Merchant and Sebu Simonian--jingle writers by trade--released an EP as Capital Cities in 2011. Lead single 'Safe and Sound' shot to #2 on Hype Machine, #1 on CMJ's A&R chart and #1 on South American radio with support from Nic Harcourt (KCRW), Julie Pilat (KYSR, iHeartRadio), Aaron Axelsen (KITS, Popscene), Rodney Bingenheimer (KROQ), SiriusXM's Alt Nation and Pandora's SXSW Discovery Den.

A string of blogosphere favorites--including remixes by DiscoTech and Shook, a cover of Pink Floyd's 'Breathe' featuring an uncanny Tupac sample, and their latest anthem 'Kangaroo Court'--helped Capital Cities reach music lovers of all stripes and ages from Moscow to Jakarta to Lima to Tokyo.

The band has toured the US, Canada and South America to enthused crowds sharing the stage with the likes of Chromeo, Body Language, The Knocks, Wallpaper, Theophilus London, Asher Roth and Kendrick Lamar. Their songs have been heard on major TV shows, commercials and retailer playlists worldwide.

Guitarist Nick Merwin, bassist Manny Quintero, trumpeter Spencer Ludwig and drummer Channing Holmes round out the group. Capital Cities are in the studio finishing up their anticipated debut album.
