"Local Band Recognized by International Contest"

PRESS RELEASE - 7-6-05

LOCAL BAND RECOGNIZED BY INTERNATIONAL CONTEST

Capitol Gain, a local Red Hook band recently received the honor of being named Finalist by the Song of the Year(http://www.songoftheyear.com/ ) songwriting contest. Song of the Year is an international songwriting contest supporting VH-1’s Save the Music Foundation. The Song of the Year judges are some of the biggest names in music including many Grammy Award winners.

Song of the Year is excited to recognize Steve Bednarchak (age 17), Devin Pickering (age 17) and Dillon Pickering (age 15), the band members for their exceptional songwriting ability for the song “Animal I Am”. Capitol Gain competed against songwriters from all over the world for this honor.

Currently Capitol Gain is concentrating on recording their album and will be touring this fall. All three members attend Red Hook High School and have performed at local concerts during the year. They are currently looking for a singer to complement their unique style of music, which has been critiqued by a professional radio personality as a twisted rock, classical and metal mix.
