Cappolla King

New York City, New York, USA
SoloHip Hop

New York City female MC, formerly an Asst. Engineer for Diddy, under her own label/ production company ArtMovesCollective. Her self-produced, self-written, self-recorded album brings a breath of fresh air into hip-hop offering an alternative and honest look into the the mind of an abstract creator who doesn't let genres, sexuality, nor trends dictate her sound.

Biography

Native of Long Island, and graduate of IAR (Institute of Audio Research), CappollaKing started out as an audio engineer intern for Diddy's infamous Daddy House Recording Studio. Her four-year stint earned her assistant engineer credits on Jay Z's multi-platinum, "American Gangsta" album in 2008. Meanwhile she has worked under some of the most successful producers/songwriters in the industry including, Diddy, Danja, Mario Winans, and song-writer Angela Hunte.

CappollaKing is no ordinary female emcee. Her genre-blending, eclectic fusion of hip-hop and soul sets her far apart from her counterparts. Pulling from inspirations such as Andre 3000, Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill, and Missy Elliot are all apart of who she is. In 2010 she started her own collective (Art Moves Collective) which hosts her music production, video content, and art. CappollaKing produces, writes and records her own original material in New York City studio and never looks for handouts. She took the independant role on her own to build her empire and not include herself amongst the company of other female, more-so white, rappers.
