Captain Keenan was formed in Winnipeg in about 2000 or 2001. It was loosely named after its founding members' paternal grandfather, Herbert Keenan. He was a tugboat captain on Lake Superior in the 20th century. At any rate, it had a ring to it. For most of the time its membership consisted of Patrick Keenan and his brother Tom. However, during a long hiatus, Tom was replaced by Darryl Shave. The two phases of these bands are CK One and CK Two as a result. They never toured, but they did build quite a following in Winnipeg with their pop-sensibilities and harmony-driven hooks. They sort of stopped playing gigs after about 2010. However, they did have a reunion gig in Whitehorse in 2016. They are still kicking, but not very much....
