BIO:
CAPTAIN DANGER is here to save the day! Serving up “catchy, quirky pop with a funky soul,” CAPTAIN DANGER has a unique but “immediately likable” catalog of classics. (And a sense of humor to boot.)

It’s a 3-piece band with a rich sound (a little engine that could), offering up a special balance of musicality and fun. Built upon the songwriting of guitarist/singer Aaron Steinberg, CAPTAIN DANGER songs just groove right along, thanks to percolating bass from Vashon Johnson (also on vocals) and killer beats from drummer Roger “Joose” Benford (on vocals as well).

A sense of humor has served CAPTAIN DANGER well – highlights include appearing live on Showtime’s comedy gem “The Green Room With Provenza” as well as composing music for Howard Stern and Bill Nye The Science Guy. Festival gigs include performances at CMJ Music Marathon and South by Southwest.

Says CMJ: "[Captain Danger does] the perfect pop formula so well it doesn't feel formulaic at all."

Influences include rock and R&B greats such as Jimi Hendrix, The Police, Prince, The Meters, King Crimson and Motown, along with the slightly more niche appeal of artists like Nellie McKay, Shuggie Otis, Soul Coughing and Tom Lehrer.

The band is hard at work on a new collection of recordings, due in 2012.

Armed with great melodies, rhythms, and a love of humor and irony, CAPTAIN DANGER sticks up for the underdog (wherever she or he might be). If Don Quixote was a modern-day city dweller, he’d have CAPTAIN DANGER on his iPod.

Captain Danger "pulls off the perfect pop formula so well it isn't formulaic at all." (CMJ) It's a cool-ass blend of pop, rock and funky soul with a lyrical bent that incorporates humor, irony and weirdness.

Opening slots have included: Dave Matthews Band, Blue Oyster Cult and Spin Doctors.

CAPTAIN DANGER is at home in your CD collection alongside: Beck, Jimi Hendrix, Outkast, King Crimson, Jeff Buckley, Gnarls Barkley, Tom Lehrer, Frank Zappa, Elvis Costello, Prince, Fountains of Wayne, Curtis Mayfield and Randy Newman.

Covers include inventive versions of songs like Kraftwerk's "Pocket Calculator" and 70's milestones like "Kung Fu Fighting" and "Be Thankful For What You Got."

CAPTAIN DANGER is based in Los Angeles and New York.
