""Brit Pomp anyone" - Mark Beaumont"

“Brit Pomp anyone?...Captain Dangerous capture a proud strain of Britishness from blasts of war-time brass belligerence to the melodic clout of 21st Century alt.pop. Onstage they cut a smart, besuited figure and on record they exude a suitable intelligence… Dangerous? Let’s hope so” Mark Beaumont - Music Week - Music Week

""A must see before they inevitable take the music scene by storm in 2011""

The hotly tipped Captain Dangerous will headline Proud's live entertainment programme.... the Nottingham quintet are a must see before they inevitable take the music scene by storm in 2011.

""We want everything they've ever recorded. They tell stories. They're not trying to be clever, but they are.""

CAPTAIN DANGEROUS: "I Miss You Cos It's Monday" (Danqua Records)
RELEASED? Out now.
SOUNDS LIKE? A winning
combination of the woozy and
chillingly accurate. For chilling
check the upbeat waltz around
a wife beaten floor aka "Terry
Steele". Young people will
want a Jamie T reference for
the lo-fi wordsmithery, but
Captain Dangerous are
confidently striding adults, so
bother me not with mention of
whining toddlers.
IS IT ANY GOOD? We want
everything they've recorded.
They tell stories. They're not
trying to be clever, but they are.

""Gloriously unique jaunty pop laced with gypsy-folk tones... underpinned by fantastic song writing""

Last up were the night's headline act, the raptuous indie-gypsy-swing-yelp-pop mashup that is Captain Dangerous. Fresh from a fantastic gig at Rock City last week, they were clearly riding the wave of a great start to the new year. Back to their usual five-piece lineup (they were joined by a newly acquired string quartet last week), they launched into a set of gloriously unique jaunty pop laced with gypsy-folk tones, and underpinned throughout by fantastic song writing. With a full-time violin player, a guitarist who seems to play any instrument you could chuck at him and heartfelt lyrics delivered with fervour and huge energy, their cheeky veneer conceals a very skilled and thoughtful group of lads. They were fantastically passionate, engaging and clearly loved being on stage - this is a band that lives for playing live, and rightly so. They were a hugely fun end to a cracking evening of local music. - LeftLion Online

""I can understand the fuss surrounding this band""

"Captain Dangerous are a Nottingham band whose off-kilter indie-pop has been causing a minor stir, they count 6Music’s Mark Riley as a fan....

...I can understand the fuss surrounding this band. Captain Dangerous make catchy, melodic, indie pop, with more than a hint of folk running through its veins." - God Is In The TV Zine

""A huge lineup, the normal five piece band augmented by a four piece string section""

Then back up the hill to Broadway where we caught the last act of our night, the awesome Captain Dangerous. This was a huge lineup, the normal five piece band augmented by a four piece string section, lead by, guess who? Rob from Maniere Des Bohemians, doing his eighth gig of the day, with the fifth of the bands he is in. They rocked the Broadway, which was packed with their fans. - Insomnia Radio Network

""Bouncy, sublime indie anthem!!""

Coinciding with a convenient spring time delivery, this bouncy and sublime indie anthem is just the type of contagious perfection the boys have developed a knack for. With a radio-friendly production, Captain Dangerous sound immaculate enough to take on the UK's greats at their own game. Complete with rousing backing vocals, sweet instrumentals and a storming rhythm leading the way, it'll have you dancing for its full five minutes. Superb.

Bio

Hailing from Nottingham, UK and emerging from the same music scene that recently spawned Jake Bugg, Swimming and Dog is Dead. Captain Dangerous released Andy Wright (We Show Up On Radar) produced opus ‘The Empire Never Ended’ on 14th January 2013 and are set to once again tour the album and the new forthcoming singles from the record in summer 2013.

Part wonky-pop, part heartbreaking storytelling; the record takes shades of Pavement, Blur, and Darren Hayman, and glues them together with bombastic orchestral accompaniments in an infectious and dynamic debut album.

Having toured throughout the past two years and most recently accompanied by a 20 piece orchestra, the band have built a reputation as a thrilling live proposition which has seen them headline London's Union Chapel and sell out the Rescue Rooms in Nottingham.

The band’s single ‘Everything Beautiful Reminds Me Of You’ has enjoyed regular rotation on national television, featuring on Channel 4’s comedy show Fresh Meat, and Grey’s Anatomy, and was used extensively on ITV’s promotional advertisements for their coverage of Brazil’s football friendlies in 2012.

Consisting of Adam Clarkson (guitar, ukulele, vocals) Miles Clark (guitar, trumpet, melodica, accordion, violin, vocals) bassist Mark Houlgate, drummer and percussionist Jamie Elliott, and jazz/classical violinist Rob Rosa; the band describe themselves first and foremost as a "pop band".
