First song, "Skywriting For Rocket Angel", will be appearing on the Vol. 4 (Columbus, Ohio), due out this summer.

Feeling a bit camera shy

Unlike the majority of other guitar-and-drum duos, Captain Exploder avoids the stigma of '60's garage rock revivalism, preferring instead to investigate the layers of their various influences.

Jarrod and Joel have been best friends since grade school, and they have shared countless mix tapes, birthday cds, and live shows together. As a result, the Captain's influences are vast. Subtle hints of '80's power metal can create sweeping backdrops against punk rock and indie-pop aesthetics. Songwriters like Bob Dylan and Paul Simon can be found lurking in the shadows behind space rock jams. Jimmy Page riffage can be lasso'd into emo/post-rock experimentalism. Anything remotely "rock" is fair game.

Though their low-fi DIY approach definitely gives them an "Indie Rock" cred, Captain Exploder just wants to be a great rock band.
