Bio
Born on the banks of the mississippi river, Captain Green represents 7 players' desire to think outside the box. The music created by the boys of CG is highly influenced by the summer festival scene, but maintains the rootsy sound of New Orleans and traditional school of Jazz.
The music is reminiscent of 1970s electric jazz (Miles, mahavishnu, herbie hancock, freddie hubbard), topped with new school jazz (Medeski martin and wood, Bela Fleck, Roy Hargrove, soulive) and a healthy helping of funk (Amnesty, Betty Davis, the meters, melvin sparks).
