Bio

Captain Jack & Rhino began performing together in 2004 in ‘The Captain Jack Blues Band’ with Steve Casilio and Michael Roque and as the acoustic duo of ‘Captain Jack & Rhino’.

Captain Jack is a triple threat on harp, slide guitar and sax and often performs with Joe Beard and many other regional and national acts. Because of the demand of his services, you can often find Jack playing in as many bands as there are days of the week.

Rhino, who plays bass and sings lead vocals in the band, switches to guitar (normal and slide) and sings lead vocals. He holds a BS Degree in Music Theory and is the primary composer/arranger for the duet. His performance and writing credits include writing and recording theme/bumper music (“The Breakfast Club Blues”) for Rochester radio station WBZA’s morning radio show, The Breakfast Buzz. He also appeared in the show’s TV commercial performing the song. Additionally, Rhino has his song, "Your Lips Never Moved"; in the NYS Dept. of Education film "Mary's Choice - Teen Pregnancy". Live performances include playing in various bands throughout the eastern United States and Canada.

Along with performing original compositions, on any given night, you may find the Captain Jack & Rhino performing songs of Paul Butterfield, Otis Rush, Van Morrison, Marvin Gaye, Willie Dixon, BB, Albert & Freddie King, Sonny Boy Williamson II, Allman Brothers, Junior Wells, Cephas & Wiggins, Furry Lewis, Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee or Santana.

Some of the songs are ones that The Captain Jack Blues Band plays on a nightly basis, but arranged for the more intimate sound of a duet. That doesn’t mean that Captain Jack & Rhino are less powerful or less dynamic than the full band, all that means is that you will hear nuances that you could only hear from a duet.
