Captain Majjit Biography
Arabian born African raised Chigozie “Majjit” Umeh is a 21 year old Producer,
Rapper & Song writer from Nigeria (West Africa). After kicking off as an R&B/Pop song
writer for local Nigerian artists in the first quarter of 2004, he immigrated to Toronto,
Canada where he finally got his hands on beat making equipments that led to sleepless
nights for him as he spent several hours on the computer composing. Majjit began to take
the rapping side of his career serious after freestyling in a grade 12 class that had his
fellow students not only impressed but stunned that it was coming from a new immigrant
from Africa.
As a rapper, Majjit tends to grab the attention of listeners of all kinds of music. Most
notably is his gift for crafting catchy hooks/choruses which he is beginning to get
recognized for. His baritone vocals has been compared to that of Bone thugs, Nate Dogg,
Xzibit & Shyne which are all part of his musical influences. He also gets melodic on
some verses, which all comes from his early skill as a song writer. As a producer, he
shows versatility as well by composing not just hip hop but also pop, rock, R&B, House,
Industrial, Afro beat, Reggae and dancehall. Till date, Majjit has produced and co-wrote
songs for various local up coming artist in Canada including Krystal Chance (Pop/R&B),
Jerzee tha Icon (Hip Hop) who recently won 2 MTV underground Awards
(Best International Artist & Most Promising Male Rapper), and about 3 albums worth of
songs self produced and written for himself as an artist.
