Captain #1 began as sounds echoing out of the everglades into abandoned farmhouses and trailer homes along the sides of state roads. Those songs slowly made their way through south Florida till they crawled inside a man. That man now lives in the foothills of Georgia and so does Captain #1.

Biography

Captain Number 1 began as sounds echoing out of the Florida Everglades into abandoned farmhouses and trailer homes along the sides of state roads. Those same sounds slowly made their way through south Florida till they crawled inside a man's ear. That man now lives in the foothills of Georgia and creates music with friends and travels to cities to play you those lonely songs born in the everglades. Songs about murders, about love, about angels and hydrogen balloons, set to the music of glockenspiels, mandolins and toys.
Captain #1, in conjunction with their label Just Me Records, believe in using diy and punk ethics to produce and market their music. They attempt to blend creative and surprising art into all parts of the band. In the past they have incorporated coloring books into their records and woven in interesting stage shows to their live performances. In the spring of 2006 Captain #1 joined the Branch Collection music collective. Captain #1 is carving out a niche that the musical world can't help but fall in to and scrape at the walls of.

In 2005 Captain #1 moved to Athens, GA where Tim began to form a partnership with the other floating members of Captain #1. While playing shows in the Athens area Captain #1 finished writing the songs that would land on their first release 'Color What You Want', which is a split with Tim's contemporary and long time friend Enoch. Lyrics

St. Paul, MN

Written By: Tim Denson

What should I say
Which way should I look
You’ll be leaving in the morning
And I know you’ll be gone for good
I know it’s for the best
There’s nothing for you here
But let’s talk things out
Let’s leave things the way we should

You wanted to know
You wanted to be
Something more important
More important than me
Veterinarian
Molecular Engineer
You’ll be so successful
And I’ll end up poor and dead
Just like your mother said

Somebody’s out there; they don’t need to know
What was said and what was shown
‘Cause people can talk but they’ll never know
What really happened
That night you left for St. Paul
Good luck to you in St. Paul

If I ever hear from you again
If I ever see you again
If I ever hear your name I’ll ask
“How are you doing in St. Paul?”
