CARACOL
L’arbre aux parfums

Known mostly for her work as half of world-pop duo DOBACARACOL (425 concerts in 16 countries, including some of europe, north america and australia’s biggest festivals, and well over 100 000 albums sold worldwide of their debut album “SOLEY”), CARACOL, hailing from Montreal, Canada, now presents her first solo release “L’arbre aux parfums”, a more mature, personal and introspective album.

The album is built on raw emotion and is a unique blend of american folk, rocksteady, with a singer-songwriter and a vintage “50’s” feel and is being likened by some to “Indie-pop” and current female artists such as Feist and Amy Winehouse. However, the album has a very distinctive sound and features a surprising mix of ukelele, autoharp and a good old acoustic guitar!

Principally in french, but also including two english tracks, the lyrics explore the sometimes darker side of human emotions and relations through anger, love, contempt, arrogance and the search for something more. It’s a straight from the heart, no holds-barred expression of the human condition. At times sarcastic, but never tragic, “L”arbre aux parfums” reveals our raw humanity.

Using surrealistic imagery inspired by films such as “Oh Brother Where Art Thou?” the songs at times evoke a hawaiian ballroom or a throwback to the vinyl records of days gone by.

Produced by Sébastien Blais-Montpetit ( DJ Champion et ses G-Strings,), and surrounded by an all-star cast of musicians : Maxime Lepage on bass (DobaCaracol), Justin Allard on drums (Daniel Bélanger), François Lafontaineon keys (Karkwa), and David Laflèche on guitar, CARACOL looks to pick up where Dobacaracol left off
