Bio
Mic Matayo (born May 24, 1983), better known by his stage name CarbinKid, is a American rapper from Jamaica, Queens, NY. Growing up as an army brat with scoliosis raised by his grandmother, CarbonKid surmounted the trials of his conditions with an unwavering belief that life can only get better. Influenced by rappers like Ghostface Killah, Nas, and Mobb Deep, CarbinKid approached music as a refuge. He is methodical with his lyrics, often narrating stories that evoke self-discipline and patience, challenges he has had to overcome to allow his creativity to flow confidently both in the booth and performing. Notably, he has been introduced to the business through working as a radio programmer and interning for MTV and sonically, his engineering abilities have sparked interest by platinum selling producers impressed by his work ethic. Currently, CarbinKid has music available online and will be performing at various showcases including CMJ Music Marathon in New York City, NY on October 16th, 2012.
