"Cari Quoyeser: Babes in Boyland"

Cari Quoyeser (Koizer?) took gentle command of the room, giving out some stunning art for a young woman her age (20?). Backed up by Rebecca Laird (18?) on her bad little ass lead guitar, Quoyeser gave a performance that will someday make her a household name. She is a natural entertainer, with rock star pipes and original songs that sound like classics that you must have somehow missed. Rebecca Laird effortlessly broadcasts mature, even thrilling blues-rock guitar as if she is sweetly weaving macrame. She is just a sweet little girl... a child! But both of these young women brandish shocking musical skill as they serve up a barrage of choice cuts. - The Navasota Current

"Guitar Heroine"

She’s also found her way into the recording studio, having backed her buddy Cari Quoyeser, a recent American Idol standout, under the tutelage of storied ZZ Top producer Dan Workman at Houston’s SugarHill Studios. Laird has also performed with Quoyeser live at the South by Southwest music festival in Austin.

"Meet American Idol Contestant Cari Quoyeser"

Cari Quoyeser said her feeling after auditioning and advancing was one of “sheer relief.”

Perhaps that’s because of high expectations. She’s not exactly a novice at this music business.

She has sung lead vocals and played rhythm guitar for a group called Suburban Warfare. She heads a group called the Cari Q Band. - Idol Chatter

"Rebecca Laird, Mojo Girl"

With blazing ringlets of curly red hair, girl-next-door good looks, a calm stage demeanor and hot guitar licks, Rebecca Laird, only 20, has already heard enough of "you remind me of Bonnie Raitt." But with her recent win at Guitar Center's Battle of the Blues regional finals, which brought her a trove of new gear as well as a free trip to Los Angeles for this week's national finals at Club Nokia, Laird is looking at a potentially promising career. - Houston Press

"The Blues Is Alive & Well - And Young"

Roll Susan Tedeschi and Bonnie Raitt into a 100-pound, 18-year-old package, and you'll have some idea of what this little lady can do with a guitar. In fact, she stung it so hard and so legitimately that Brown just smiled, nodded to her to take another solo, closed his eyes and laid in the rhythm while the little lady proceeded to tear up some blues.

Look out, Houston, the future looks bright; we've got another very serious picker on our hands. - Houston Press

Bio

Cari & Becks is a collaboration between singer-songwriter Cari Quoy, and award winning guitarist, Becks Laird. Based in Texas and hailing from Austin and Houston, respectively, Cari & Becks began playing music together over five years ago after a chance meeting in a Houston blues pub. Friends ever since, their sound has developed into a distinctive blend of American roots music combining folk, rock, blues and jazz genres. Live, they have an onstage energy and synergy that can only come from years of experience playing together.

Known for their professionalism and drive, Cari & Becks have built and maintained a devoted following online and locally in southeast Texas as well as abroad. Their travels have seen them play everywhere from packed pubs in Dublin, Ireland, to impromptu performances on the streets of Edinburgh, Scotland. Though they only began performing under the name Cari & Becks in January 2015, they are both performance veterans. Their charisma and obvious love of music helps them to draw and hold audience attention throughout a show. Cari & Becks are real, honest and soulful in their craft.

Cari penned her first original song at the age of 7, and has continued to hone her songwriting chops over the years. Today, Cari's songwriting has matured into something capable of displaying a wide range of emotion. Her masterful lyrics play a key role in keeping the listener interested and engaged. First inspired by the Texas Blues greats, Becks began her musical career early in life. Having studied a variety of instruments and styles, she lends a tasteful and eclectic style to the band's music. This includes doubling on instruments other than guitar, most notably the mandolin.

2011 and 2012 were both big years for Cari & Becks. In 2011, Cari was featured on the hit TV show, American Idol. She faced over 110,000 other aspiring singers and earned a place in Hollywood. Once there, she reached the top 40 and garnered fans worldwide. Less than a year later, Becks won the southwestern regional finals for Guitar Center's Battle of the Blues. She went on to represent Texas in the national Grand Finals in Los Angeles, California. Becks is the first female guitarist ever to make it as far as the Grand Finals, and finished top 5 in America's largest blues competition.
