R&b’s newest “break-out” artist, CARLAA, presents a dope new track called “Promise,” featuring Slur. Both Hamilton-based, the two collaborate with producer, Chef Byer, to create an emotional and somber vibe, as she repeats “Don’t forget me when you’re famous,” throughout the song. Slur has a verse around the middle of the song, rapping as the person CARLAA wishes wouldn’t forget her when he’s famous. This record makes you want to just loosen up and unwind. Bio
Carlaa is a Canadian singer/songwriter from Hamilton Ontario. Influenced by her Grandfather's passion for music, she began playing guitar and singing at the age of nine. At 13-years-old she started performing any way she could, whether it was by simply grabbing her guitar and playing out in public, by performing at local fundraisers or at open mics.
After interning multiple years throughout highschool and college for different artist development companies and recording studios, helping artists behind the scenes while getting a look at what it takes to make music a career, Carlaa decided to take her music to the next level.
2014 was Carlaa's beginning as an artist showcasing her potential. With a heavy surrounding of hiphop being influenced, her sound is described as a sultry tone mixed with elements of r&b/pop/hiphop. Carlaa released her debut EP-EXposed on October 3rd 2014, and has now been featured on blogs such as Bestfan (http://www.bestfan.com/blog/2014/10/fresh-music-friday-october-24/), and been acknowledged by Canadian Dope (http://www.canadiandope.com/carlaa-promise-ft-mat-heddle-aka-slur) as "R&b's newest 'break-out' artist."
From performing all over Ontario venues, to being a contestant on The X Factor UK (2014), Carlaa has also been the only female to perform at Coast2Coast Live (Toronto), and on The King Of The Dot Tour (Hamilton). She also had the chance to perform for Def Jam's Albert Cooke in New York City, and made her first radio debut this past summer with her single 'Know My Name' as it featured on Portugal's radio station 'Radio Valdevez.'
